Well I dunno about profiles, but in a message...

the pic has to be under a certain size, and has to be one of the listed formats. People have reported problems when previewing a post into which they've inserted a picture - the pic doesn't always show. I used to have immense problems getting a pic into a post but I might now have the hang of it.

Regarding profiles - I am guessing (but someone who knows will be along soon) that it needs to be hosted on a webserver somewhere, rather than resident on your local drive. Then you would be able to load it in your browser by typing it's web address (like you say, http://www.....)

o forst you need a webserver, or a good frienship with someone else that has one and who will host your picture.

Phew, that was a lot of typing consideing I'm probably wrong!

SN,
I notice that the file name for your  profile picture is
http://www.clubarnage.com/yabbse/YaBBImages/avatars/c:/iansfile/ianspics/ianandbradmg.jpg (http://www.clubarnage.com/yabbse/YaBBImages/avatars/c:/iansfile/ianspics/ianandbradmg.jpg)

This is clearly not working as you just get a red X where the picture should be.
Also, the file address is wrong (the c:/ for example).
What you need is somewhere on the www to host your chosen picture, then you use the full http: address of this picture in the edit profile area to add your chosen picture.

If you like, you could email your profile picture to me at my email address at the left, I'll upload it to my host site and then I'll e-mail the file link to you so that you can paste it into your profile.

Hey presto, your own picture.
It works for me, I host the dancing girl at left, the cobra club logo below, and a couple of other more dubious pictures for other posters.
