Just a quick piece of advice lads, it is a tad overpriced at the champagne bar. It's a good place to meet and share a bottle or two, but if you've prolonged consumption in mind then I'd bring along a few of your own.

Unless of course you're stinking rich, have a black Amex card, a diamond studded Prince Albert, and butlers employed purely for winnet removal and rodding the bogs.

In which case, mine's a half.

Burn outs in front Car park and Camping blue - although Arnarge sounds good as well. Poo Bar Top end of village just before the Dunlop bridge (in think) on the way to Tetre Rouge which is an absolute must at night!

Was Rodding and The Bogs an r&b combo circa late seventies?

As you will arrive Thursday tea time, you'll be able to watch the qualifying which is on from 7pm to 9 pm then 10pm till midnight. You can get in the grandstands for free to watch this. Friday is Pit walk day, drivers parade in the city centre, usually party night for everyone, cruising around the circuit day in some gob smacking motors, burn outs etc afternoon and evening  on the road outside Bleu and the roundabout at Houx Annexe or you can go into Arnage at the nightime to the bars where the same happens or if I remember correctly The Brethren had a Scalextric and a chilli challenge last year  on Karting Nord which really was (by all accounts) just a mental party.
The Shampoo Bar (or Champagne Bar as it is really called) is where all the people from this forum try to meet on the Saturday night to put names to faces and catch up with old friends.

Enjoy yourself

Wotcher Stu!
How are preparations going up there? (don't forget the whale omelettes, in fact, put them in a stotty). Can you still get Sykes pop?
I took on The Brethrens chilli challenge last year, and can recommend it. Take a whole spoonful, but make a Will first.
I've never managed the burn outs on Friday, usually taking advantage of the less crowded fair (as compared to Saturday), but as the fair was complete pants last year, maybe an alternate venue for entertainment is required.

H,
Preperations are going well. Constructed the new shower cubicle yesterday, and refilled the gas bottles. A few little things to do including servicing the car and then pack it and we are off next Sunday night. Will try to remember to bring you a couple of stotties down, but seeing as Greggs has gone international, I imagine they sell all over the country now.

Hows your 'Preperation H' so to speak.

I'm on Maison Blanche this year. One week of bliss.

Preparation H is going slowly, in fact I'm also considering an anusol, zinc and castor oil cream and minced lamb cocktail to keep things moving. I'll simply sliiiiide onto the ferry.
I've got to get an MOT for the car next week, and I reckon everything else will be last minute, as usual. Mind you, as long as you remember your tickets and a piece of plastic then most things are re-coverable. Did I hear someone shout 'famous last words'?
I'm considering a change in religion for this year. I've had enough of this Muslim business, and it just doesn't seem to have the cache that it used to. Maybe Buddhism, Mayan Indian or perhaps atheism. After all, a man's got to believe in something, especially when he's drunk, almost naked and hopelessly lost in a strange place.

I totally agree. I've just joined a soceity for Believers in Reincarnation. It cost me £100 but I thought, 'What the f**k, you only live once'.

Ah my preperation H, when do you and your crew arrive at MB, as we will have two of your little helpers with us, are the said helpers performing your erection for you again this year?

Wotcher Bri,
I hope our little helpers are not so demoralized that they decide to give up breathing....
Yes, all assistance with an erection would be greatly appreciated, especially by Uncle Albert, as his natural instinct is to dig trenches. Don't forget to rub him all over in Delay Cream.
In a scene reminiscent from 'Dusk Till Dawn' I'll be racing the sun to get to site before nightfall on Tuesday. Can I expect a low flyer on arrival?
Lord Bloomer and his new vehicle, stage two from a Saturn V I think, will be down by Tuesday lunchtime.
Nearly, nearly....

H, low flyer's will be served by your good man servant Uncle Albert on your arrival.
Not long now.

Rats and Rats!!!
I've just had a quick look at a route planner, and it has me arriving at MB at past midnight! I used the 'drivers pants on fire' option as well, oh no.
I'm sure my vision has detiorated badly over the last few months, so I think I'll need to get hold of some night vision goggles (manufactured by Youngs of Wandsworth) and maybe take a browse through the 'Hubble' section of the opticians catalogue pretty soon. The car's not happy either, I mentioned 'night driving' within earshot and it immediately shed its diff oil in fright. Not even cleaning the headlights will help it, in the dark it'd be very easy to run over the man with the red flag, I think main beam is about 1W. Brail for the instruments might help. Alternatively, I could go for full sensory deprivation and Abu Ghraib tactics by pumping up the personal stereo and noise kill headphones.
Maybe it'll be a full moon
Yours in the dark, and trepidation..
H

Top idea H. Survey the bar on the way to the funfair one evening to check which brand they are serving this year and then grab a few from Carrefour!!

Men, that's a bloody good idea. They serve Mumm, see here: http://www.clubarnage.com/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=1115

They serve Mumm

Mumm was being served last year, but a different brand was used in 2002. Mumm was an improvment in quality.
Just need to check prior to Saturday.

I don't think it really matters what brand it is. Just buy what you want. The way its set out they would'nt notice if you were selling the stuff.  Smokie had some other make I think last year, him being wise enough to bring a bottle.

...and I'm not sure one bottle was enough. I just went for a moderately priced something - think it was Heidseck, but it's all a long time ago now...

Went on a little shopping expedition when over in France last month.

This little lot should get our merry little band started (of farted).  I don't have photographic evidence of the horrendous amount of Nigerian etc. that's sitting in the UK right now, but suffice to say it's not a pretty picture.

The great thing about buying the champers in advance and taking it to the track is that it's less than half the price for nicer stuff than the plonk at the champers bar.  I remember the good old days when the Champers Cork Mercier was 25 nicker.  I reckon this it's now mid 30s!

I also remember gettting so wrecked on Champers 2 yrs ago that I actually died.  And then spent what felt like several days locked in the ladies shitter in Houx.  Urrrgggghhh.

Simon P,

The best thing is just see what you can.  Things change from year to year the "side shows" ar enot organised as such they just happen so you can't really be sure what is the best thing to do or see.

Untill the Mid Ninties you could go down to Restaurant des Hunaudières on the Mulsanne straight on a Friday and see all sorts of exotic cars parked up.  Then there was some Wheel spining fun near Indinapolis but not last year.  Arnarge seemed quite good fun last year during the morning early afternoon.

You simply can't see everything.   Since it's your first year I would recomend that you just go touring and see whats about.
