Rick, are you coming to Reading on Friday or is that when you are racing on the Saturday??

Title: Re:g'day
Post by: rcutler on May 26, 2004, 09:40:49 am
Not sure I do not want to race at the moment as I pulled my calf muscle at the weekend and it hurts. I need to race to get experience for the USA so am leaving a desicion untill the last minute. As it stands I am coming to Reading with the fellow LE Mans'ers from Thatcham + Newbury.

If I do come do you want you Tertre Rouge Stella Glass or is it a bit dangerous having a CA with a priced breakable possetion when pissed.

I think I'll grab the glass another time please Rick. Gives us an excuse to get at least one more drink in before the race. I will grab some money off you though  :)

Rob,   When I used similar tactics to become the 1000th poster on the modern commer replacment thread I was accused of downright cheating and had to forego the prize of a very nice fluffy penguin.

By the same rules, I demand that justice is seen to be done and your  "illegal" posts be moderated out.

We can't have one rule for one and one for another.

I've learnt my lesson second time round.... I think!

Football + beer + Le Mans = Torn cruciate ligament = Many months of agony

Football + beer + Thruxton = Covered in mud

Conclusion:
My shortcomings in the beer football matrix are decreasing therefore I am hoping to be fine this time out.  Or back up to annoy again.

Sorry Rob but  beg to differ.  :-\

The Commer thread is the most popular thread on the forum for posts, and the second most poular for views, trailing in behind the joke thread. Many people have posted on it and several different vehicles have been debated.  :D

This however is effectively a "hello, haven't posted for a while" thread for you, Dan, Rick and Pete!  ::)

Hardly comparable!!

Still, it's an open forum, so carry on!!!  :)

Talking of statistics, it says a lot about the type of person that uses this forum when the "Girls Girls Girls thread" has had over 10,000 views since April. Still who's complaining?

Title: Re: g'day

JP many people post here to, just like you.  It has a certain core of users as do most threads but it's not exclusive.

Just a fun nonsence thread, like most on this forum.  Just like going down the pub.

If anyone has a problem with it then fine, i've no problem with that, just some people are grumpy and thats them  :P

for those who can't tell this is a dig at no one and if in the spirit of this thread, nonsense! but nonsense has it's place in the stress filled world we live in

This sort of thread should live or die on it's own merits and bumping is cheating.

IMO, unlike the Commer thread, it's total rubbish.

Andy, Maybe you need a few or these to moisten it up?? :P

what do you mean unlike the commer thread?

this is exactly the same as the commer thread, have a sense of humour

Sorry Rob but  beg to differ.  :-\

The Commer thread is the most popular thread on the forum for posts, and the second most poular for views, trailing in behind the joke thread. Many people have posted on it and several different vehicles have been debated.  :D

This however is effectively a "hello, haven't posted for a while" thread for you, Dan, Rick and Pete!  ::)

Hardly comparable!!

Still, it's an open forum, so carry on!!!  :)

well it is impressively 5th highest posted in, so that must count for something  ;) !!!! almost at 200!!!

well you could do, but there it would be a waste of time as there will only be one winner;D altho it'd be a close run thing for 2nd place between the joke thread and girls, girls, girls! i can see the top 5 already...

1.g'day
2.Girls Girls Girls
3.The (Unrelated To Le Mans) Joke Thread
4.Sebring 2005
5.Helpful Maps, Info & Who Where What 2006

i think ive covered them all ;)

i wasnt going on actual stats - ive seen them many times before - i was going how a thread engages people, and also randomnity of subject. it seems to be pretty good as its had your attention and posts twice today - plus the other previous times you have posted what more do i need to say. and at the end of the day its only a bit of fun! ;D

It's only had our attention because we are complaining about how utterly rubbish and banal it is. Rather like the depressing feeling when one finds Deathwatch beetle has returned to ruin the woodwork in one's house, it takes up more time and worry than it really merits.

IMHO it has the same lines as the commer thread - in the respect that-

starts off as commer thread
goes off track
ends up being randomness
sometimes gets back to relevance

g'day thread
starts off as a hi everybody
goes off track
ends up being randomness

at the end of the day you can choose which threads you read and post in(hence i havent posted in the commer thread), and at times this thread has provided some entertaining banter - like now for example!!!

Sorry, which was the funny bit again?
Or the informative bit?
Or the inventive bit?
Or the blog bit?

Should I feel the need to point out that a parrot's meaningless repetition of identicle sentiments is not the way to defend the g'day thread? My time is too valuable to waste listening to half-witted regurgitations of the same kind of atavistic and moronic outbursts that have manifested themselves at various points in this discourse.

It seems to me you simply don't understand the bigger picture here. The Commer claims to be a 'strange attractor' of diverse images and information in a kind of dreamlike acausal logic through synchronicity. We may be able to make rough diagrams of the geometries involved but it appears to have no precedent. Thus the MCR thread is never random.

Sorry to have to speak down to you in plenoastic phraseology, but I hope that goes some of the way to helping you understand the 'Great Beast ' that we are grappling with!

you know, i was going to insult the commer thread, but im not, because im seeing the funny side this argument - and because im not a malicious person - and im not gonna stop posting in this thread as long as there are people to talk on this thread - all i was merely doing in involving the two threads was simply comparing them

I'm getting a refurbed engine, it's either that or put new shells in and hope for the best.  So i'd rather get it sorted properly.  Isn't too bad price wise for what it is but still would rather not be spending the money..... Cars you gotta love em!
