Title: TV Reception Post by: Mark Ayling on April 30, 2004, 12:20:56 pm Hi All,
Does anyone know what the score is with watching the footie match on the Sunday this year, ie is it on a terrestial frog channel so we can just pick it up with a normal tv, or am I going to have to strap a sattelite dish to the roof of me car?!! Cheers, Mark. Title: Re:TV Reception Post by: smokie on April 30, 2004, 12:23:15 pm I don't know a lot about football, but I think the score isn't announced until match day, usually after the match...
I don't know much about tellies either, but they are definitely on a different system "over there" and your regular Brit TV will not work. Although a SECAM video import worked in B&W on my telly )some years ago), so you might get B&W? Title: Re:TV Reception Post by: Mark Ayling on April 30, 2004, 12:24:59 pm you should be on a stage.....the next one leaves in 10 minutes ;D
Title: Re:TV Reception Post by: Mark Ayling on April 30, 2004, 12:26:56 pm hmm, I suppose we could just buy a small telly in the Carrefour which would work, they're probably only about a tenner over there :)
Title: Re:TV Reception Post by: smokie on April 30, 2004, 12:29:30 pm There should be plenty on site - make sure you make friends with someone who has one!
Title: Re:TV Reception Post by: Werner on April 30, 2004, 12:30:16 pm As the game is France - England and you are in France at that time, I guess you'll be able to receive it terrestial. The worldcup-games 2 years were also on french, terrestial, free TV. However, if you bring your own TV-Set check first that it can deal with the french system. A couple of years ago we found out, that an older german PAL-system TV doesn't work in France, because their transmisssion standard is SECAM. Many modern TVs are multi-system (e.g. almost all Sonys), they can deal with PAL, SECAM and NTSC as well. So just take a look in the manual of your TV set...
Title: Re:TV Reception Post by: Mark Ayling on April 30, 2004, 05:37:11 pm Cheers for that.
Being in Houx Annexe we won't have electric hook-up, so I now have the mission of finding a 12v/battery powered SECAM/multi-format TV that doesn't cost a fortune!! Any ideas? Title: Re:TV Reception Post by: Werner on April 30, 2004, 09:28:42 pm Mark,
it's probably not worth the hassle just for one weekend. We've been in Le Mans since 1985 , had the football-problem every 2 years (euro-and worldcups) and only a few years we had our own tv with us. In all the other years we always found an opportunity to watch football-games e.g. the pub near the track main-entrance, other groups on the campground, you'll find something, just ask around. Title: Re:TV Reception Post by: pretzel on April 30, 2004, 10:36:03 pm Have to agree with Werner. Every time there's been football on during the race there's always been plenty of opportunity to watch the games. Mind you I suppose if we all thought that someone else was taking the telly etc. and nobody did.......... ???

With all the beers you are owed, Robbo, I suggest a 12 metre artic trailer will be more suited for you to bring it all back home - 'cos you sure wont be able to drink it all at Lemons - will you ? ;D Title: Re:TV Reception Post by: Robbo SPS on April 30, 2004, 11:30:28 pm Ok then a drive in the car, or a beer !!!
