What was the first year that L-M did not count towards the "World Sportscar Championship"/"World Championship of Marques"?  :-[

1993 but it was practically dead before, the World Sportscar Championship that is.  :'(

Yes hgb, you're right, I remember the last championsship year 1992 with just 28 cars on the grid in Le Mans.

You mean 1978 then when the championship was reborn as the European Sportscar Championship ?  ???

The world championship stated in 1953, the first Le Mans not to count towards this, I think was 1956.

 ???After the Mercedes crash in '55 the ACO reduced the engine capacity for `prototypes' to 2½ liters, not in conformance with the FIA.  ::)
