Title: Self Preservation Society WWW Post by: Robbo SPS on March 27, 2004, 01:39:10 am Rich ( Le Mans SPS ) has spent the last few months , making , re-making and re-doing our club web-site.
The attached link is only a trial at the moment on a free server area , hence the huge banner ad for lycos and the annoying pop up ads. http://members.lycos.co.uk/LeManssps/ Have a look and feel free to either post comments here , Pm me , or via e mail or from the site to Rich. He is hoping that with a little advice and me getting the domain name, we can smooth out the site , add some good intersting stuff and have it running pre Le Mans 2004 , or should that be 2014 ? Anyway , let me know. The most helpful suggestion that rich gets wins ....... A MUG. Title: Re:Self Preservation Society WWW Post by: skorpio on March 27, 2004, 10:09:55 am Interesting, especially some of the comments in the members section ;) :D
Couple of comments though, the main frame is rather wide on my monitor, some of the pics aren't showing, and it could do with a spell check :-[ Title: Re:Self Preservation Society WWW Post by: Steve Pyro on March 27, 2004, 08:52:39 pm Robbo, Rich, Very good, easy to navigate around and no dead ends to get stuck in without a back or home button. I like the photo thumbnail's - just the right size to give you a 'feel' before you click on them. Minor glitches like spelling and grammar can be easily corrected. Rich, are you taking commissions? (I need a simple EA cob site) Title: Re:Self Preservation Society WWW Post by: Perdu on March 28, 2004, 10:53:13 pm Robbo, I don't know where you find the spare time! I like the site and as Steve says no dead ends...
All this and t-shirts and mugs. You are right about annoying extras with Lycos, too. Still, V.G. 10/10 :) :) :) :) :) :) Title: Re:Self Preservation Society WWW Post by: gibberish on March 29, 2004, 02:05:01 pm Very good Robbo. Excellent map of the circuit, but a couple of gliches to note: The link to e-mail you from 'Robbos Ramplings doesnt work, and niether do the photo links fpr 2000 & 2001.
Didn't get any pop ups, but it would be nice to get rid of that lycos bit on the side. The page was also a little large for my screen. Title: Re:Self Preservation Society WWW Post by: DickieAttwood on March 29, 2004, 10:22:11 pm Robbo, like the site, in particular the 'getting there bit' and the logo.
I used http://www.123-reg.com/ for a domain name, but I know nothing about hosting prices. I think I recognised a car in your 2003 gallery [top row, second pic from left] we took the attached pic on the Sunday evening - same one? Team member? it only took a week to build but about 6 months to learn front page and dreamweaver. i recomend the latter big time, front page sucks! i made the map my self, if any one wants a copy give us a shout and i can e-mail it to you. 2000 and 2001 photos to be uploaded still and had a few upload problems with dreamweaver which i think may have caused most problems. got a new layout in mind that wont be as 'big' and will look much better. cheers for your comments guys, every bit helps Title: Re:Self Preservation Society WWW Post by: Chef on March 30, 2004, 02:04:53 pm Attachment does not seem to be there, I'll try again!
