Title: Beausejour Campsite - is it any good?
Post by: Gav Astill on March 17, 2004, 09:07:34 pm
Just got our reservations back from the ACO and instead of Houx Annexe they have given us some place called Beausejour (south side of the Kart Track). Frankly it doesn't look very promising - we were hoping for somewhere with a bit more action and atmos. Does anyone know anything about it - if it is a bit duff where would you recomend for 3 Brits.

Cheers.

Does it matter that much??? if there's enough of us there we'll make it what we want to make it ;)  there's 3 'vans in my crew going and we're set to enjoy the weekend, with the help/advice of peeps on here and the offers of hospitality{read "come for a beer" [offer returned by the way ;) ;D]}  I'm sure we will do just that

yeh, we've had to settle for Beausejour because of the ticket allocation, if its not as hot as the other campsites why not turn it into the coolest campsite.  Plus points easy to get to Arnage and the viewing points circuit exterior and not that far from the village.

At the end of the day your going to be there, I know I don't want Beausejour but if that was all that was available then I would take it without thinking..

Being on Beausejour doesn't mean you can't go party with others on another site. ;D

I don't think that any of us who are on Beausejour have anything to worry about in terms of atmosphere.

It seems that there are plenty of people on this baord who are going and the sub text running through the posts is "we want to have a party" - doesn't that answer everyone's questions?? :D

Big Lad's got it right.  Any thoughts on getting together at Beausejouse.  We're getting onsite during late Tuesday.

Cheers for all the feedback chaps - its good to talk. I guess your attitude is right, just turn up, tune out and party.

I've payed for the tickets now, so I guess we'll see you all there (probably mid-day Friday to Monday morning). Could be in a camper van (if we can afford it), otherwise a motley assortment of tents.

BSJ was really good last year , and helped us get a quick get away to either the shops , restaurant , Arnage, Mulsanne or a walk round to the Houx rounabout on sunday night.

You will have fun , unless you take along a buddist monk......

I was on BSJ last year and thought it to be okay apart from the long walks - bringing bicycles this year!!

Did however bump into Frank Biela who was walking down the road towards Porsche curves, a little upset, something about fuel I think!!

Bloody hell Simes!  We must have missed each other by a couple of minutes.  He was on the mobile (looking a bit embarrassed) when I passed him, just by the bridge.

We've also been allocated this site instead of tetre rouge.
I'm on a waiting list for Tetre Rouge but I won't hold my breath.

No black Granny this year but don't know yet what the replacement is!!!

We were camped up next to the lane, in BSJ,  that led out to the bridge under  the Porsche curves - I was brewing some tea up as he walked pass, cleverly I despatched my younger brother to get his autograph!

Having arrived on Friday (same again this year) we were pretty far back.  A few minutes walk from the entrance.

I was told when I bought the tickets that Beausejour has showers this year :o Dunno if that's the case, but fingers crossed.

20 of us travelling down on Thursday, 10 S2000's, and a few others on 2 wheels, all staying in Beausjour ;D ;)

Come a have a beer or ten if your there !

BSJ had showers last year.  They were just in a bit short supply.  Will be keeping an eye out for any and all CA'ers.  Arriving Friday afternoon in big green 4x4 with CA stickers in windows.

I'm sure Beausejour is just as good/bad as any other site - the only reason we turned it down, in favour of Technoparc was that it's just too far to crawl after a day/night on the razz

I stayed there last year and will be there again this year.  It was as good/bad as all the others.  and there is a free Bus service during Practice and the Race.

Our crowd like Beausejour, last year we had a nice large area to ourselves, managed to walk the track - right through the pits on the friday night, and nobody has made a mention of the bus that runs from the village to the site, had to wait nearly 7 minutes one night! And why not make it a brit camp - the ACO seem to want that! PARTY ON!!!!!

Time to bump this up to the top me thinks!  :)

We're booked into BSJ - any more thoughts on a british encampment then?  We'll be arriving on Thursday afternoon - no CA stickers but Pistonheads.com flag and stickers (as long as we've got a flagpole by then!) .  ;)

I've not been to BSJ before - any suggestions about where's best to go on the site?

We're arriving monday afternoon (there are personal reasons for being that early) so will be setup by the time most arrive, if there's anywhere specific that is "best for a brit encampment"  [must be "brit" as all 4 motors are from Wales  ;)]let me know and we can start it off, you won't miss us, there should be 4 aircooled VW campers parked up, mines the blue with white Hitop,  So over to you, wheres the best spot? {we're LM virgins as well ;D} and are you all up for the idea?

Hi Skorpio, we'll look out for you although living in Bristol I'm not sure I can associate with the Welsh can I???  I thought it was the law?  ;D ;D

No doubt someone else can throw some light on the best bit of the campsite, presumably you'll have open choice if you're there that early?!

Piglet

The whole site was taken over last year by the Brits, all but for a few Germans and the odd Belgian.

We went into the second field, which was near a stand pipe and a small block of loo's.

Most of the first field was either reserved or not very good for camping, bigs tractor tracks.

Now yer talkin call in at mb and watch the turd racing far better than that 24 hr crap.
It starts daily between 1200 and 1300.
If you want to you can sponsor a turd, you even get to have your name put on the rear tail fin, those new to turd racing that is the tapered bit at the end that stops your ass closing with a slap.
Smokie had one last year that was covered in black and white squares and for £1 you could put your name on a square, I believe that the team went by the name of Racing for Turdland.
Come early as space is at a premium, he will if asked do hospitality days but sorry to say he only offers these on E bay.

Hi,

On entry to the main BJ site there were 2 distinct fields with two access roads (read tracks). There is a big hedge thing separating the two fields.

As you go in there is a path/trackalmost straight ahead that goes towards the left side of the field, this is quite a large square field quite large, the Danes had a huuuuge structure in here last year, pigs roasted daily etc...

Probably a good 200m up this track the second field starts and the toilets were on this join between fields. The second filed is even bigger with a ditch running down the left hand side (far left along with some small trees. Good to keep away from this! Standpipes were sort of near there too.

On the right handside of the field there is a hedge and more trees and bank then the TRACK! This side looked to be quite popular (more so in the first field as there seemed to be shade).

On the whole, much of a muchness.. Seemed a good bunch and loads o brits too :-)

Hi Simon,
Am I correct in thinking the TRACK would be the approach to Porsche Curves? Is it a good spot to watch from? or are they just wizzing by? I like to watch from the spectator hump at Porsche Curves but always looking for other viewpoints.

Phil.  Yes it is the approach to, and the Porche Curves themselves.  It's true that the campsite runs almost right up to the track, but the track is elevated some 15 feet above the level of the camp site.  Consequently you can't really see anything from the site, just the occasional sight of the top of something whizzing by.

Hi,

Yes it is approach to Porche Curves but as already said it is 15ft up a bank.

You **can** actually get up this bank for a little night time viewing / filming but the CRS wern't too happy. Told us to go around the other side - gesturing to the Press enclosure the other side of track.

We went in there and were able to stand by the barrier some 10ft from track and got some good video from there. My friend waived his PADDI diving card as ID :-))

It's not bad viewing from the enclosures there.. Does anyone know where the access road running down the side of BSJ camping goes?? seems to go into the wood but does this end up near track?

Okay then, we are looking to be second field, RHS. As I said, should be there by Wednesday sometime, 10 bike engined kit cars and a motorhome... gone posh this year.

We'll see you there in the 2nd field at somepoint on Thurday afternoon. A couple of our group know a way onto a bank nr the curves where you can watch day and night. He's also going to be there this weekend for the Moto GP to check out Showers and Viewing points etc :)

We'll be in a load of S2000's  8)
