Title: What is a 'lay by' Post by: jeremyc on March 12, 2004, 09:51:52 am I mailed the ticket office asking if they still had reserved parking in Blanc and the replied saying that all the 'lay by' were sold out. I thought that 'lay by' was one of the places you could camp.
Perhaps I confused them and should have asked for Garage Blanc. I was hoping that after a few years not going the ticket situation might have evolved into something less shambolic. Foolish me. Your thoughts... Title: Re:What is a 'lay by' Post by: BigH on March 12, 2004, 10:02:19 am Jezza me 'ole happy parker,
You're right to be confused. There is no Lay-By Blanc, just Parking Blanc, so I guess you have to assume that they meant Parking. I believe all the camping is also sold out, so maybe they were just giving you a little more information than you needed. Who knows? The daffs are out, and the ticket frenzy has started!!! So what is 'PARCK ANTARES' like? Title: Re:What is a 'lay by' Post by: Andy Zarse on March 12, 2004, 08:05:57 pm Terrible.
I think it's the underground one with topless female parking wardens. Did you really expect a straight answer on this website? ;) Title: Re:What is a 'lay by' Post by: BigH on March 12, 2004, 08:19:33 pm Andy is right,
Antares, roughly translated from the Greek, means 'rival to Mars'. Rival to Arse, more like it. Buttocks like you'd never believe. Well, whether or not you'd believe it depends on your experience in the buttocks department, I suppose. Now, personally speaking it has been my misfortune to have seen some truly terrible buttocks over the years, and I can tell you, Antares put the frighteners on me. I caught up with Henri Pescarolos buttocks there last year, and a grizzled old behind it was, but fair play to the man, he dealt with it with aplomb. It's f*****g miles from anywhere. Lots of people were camping on the verges and dividers between each section of the tarmacky bits. The Attendants were pushing everyone they could into there as Parking Vert became unavailable last year.
Nobody moaned at us tenting there though, but as well as the "Aforementioned Buttocks" watch out for the huge red ants. We had to shift the tent twice before the ants allowed us the squatters rights... No available bogs either! :o Title: Re:What is a 'lay by' Post by: jpchenet on March 12, 2004, 10:46:05 pm [quote author=Perdu link=board=1;threadid=1587;start=0#msg17107 date=1079123896

Could that be because it is a car park and not a camp site/lay-by. Looking at their new policy of having a bivouac area in certain car parks where you can put a tent at extra cost but with no facilities, I wouldn't be surprised if you get moved on/off at Antarres this year! Title: Re:What is a 'lay by' Post by: Perdu on March 13, 2004, 01:04:21 am Because I wouldn't want to get moved on, I am camping on Houx Annexe this year. (I was not complaining, glad to find somewhere to grab ten minutes kip at three thirty in the morning :) ) Antares was the result of a first time visit without the benefit of the help of the Tee shirt brigade, now and for the future expect better planning.
An old Training Major I knew was always wandering around muttering "Priorpreparationandplanningpreventsapisspoorperformance". He was odd but not wrong! ;D ;D ;D |
