Title: Motorhome hire?
Post by: Simon (WRC GT4) on March 07, 2004, 11:12:43 pm
Anyone know of a good place to hire a motorhome from? Got one last year fron Vivanti in Bagshot, not bad just wondering if there are others about. Local as poss to Swindon or at least south of Birmingham.

Thanks Simon.

What did that cost you for a week?

I seem to recall a company based in Oxford. Think they were called American Motorhome Rental; can't be sure though.
A collegue at work is a shed puller, and he gets a magazine everymonth that has ads in the back, try one of those.
Make sure that you put the mag in a brown paper bag as you leave the shop though; otherwise you'll get a nasty reputation.

What do mean I have a 3.5 tonne motorhome and manages to do 0-60 in under 10 seconds. It has been named Rick's Passion Wagon and is the favorite vehicle for days out and long drives due to the fridge, toilet and all the space inside.

Do not Diss MH's

I enquired at the same place, but they were quoting me huge money, minimum of 2 weeks hire, £500 deposit, came in at about £2k out lay. 5or 6 berth that is with an awning.

vivanti motorhome hire is part of the Marquis Motorhome Dealership and have a large number of places these motorhomes can be collected they are based on Swift Kontiki's and Autoslepeers all at about £40-60'000. Beermountain group I think hire a american motorhome and i think had it delivered to the circuit last year so they can thrash their cars on the way down.

Someone here already ask me for renting a motorhome.

I can arrange with local individuals to provide you some, collected at the station or near the circuit ...

Further to Gilles' info, we rent a motorhome (camping car) from an establishment not 20 minutes from the circuit. Works for us, because we are coming in from overseas and are not young or robust enough to sleep in a rental car or a waterlogged tent anymore. The convenience and luxury of a private shower and shitter cannot be valued in mere Euros. For a 4 berth vehicle cost worked out at about 600 Euros, collect Friday, return Monday. It is worth every last centime.
Will supply details, if requested

I'm agree with you and this system and I've now several contacts to provide some motorhomes in such prices, either from corporate or private owners.

Last years rental from Vivanti was (i think) £850 ish from wednesday return following tuesday for a brand new 6 berth. + about £80 euro cover for insurance.
But they also do a package to LM that incl m/home hire, ferry, camping pass & entrace ticket...
Not tried but i could have a good guess at what camp site you'll get  ::)

We rented one a few years ago from http://www.elite-motorhomes.co.uk/rates.htm (http://www.elite-motorhomes.co.uk/rates.htm)

Good service and good van so no complaints.

No connection to them btw merely a recommendation.

They used to do Le Mans specials

Aye, you crease me up, Andy.
I must admit that the shower cubicle in our camper last year was a little on the modest size, particularly for a man of my generous proportions. I fear that whilst I was taking a shower, the whole deal resembled a giant vacuum pack of Danish bacon.
