Here's a dilemma for you...what would YOU do?

This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. Please don't answer it without giving it some serious thought. By giving an honest answer you will discover where you stand morally. This test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which you will have to make a decision.

You're in Florida...in Daytona, to be exact... There is chaos all around you, caused by a hurricane and severe floods. This is flooding of biblical proportions. You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper caught in the middle of this great disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless. You are trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is showing all its destructive fury.

You see a man in the water; he is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken away with the water and debris. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar.

Suddenly, you know who it is... it's George W. Bush!

At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under, forever. You have two options. You can save him or you can take the most dramatic photos of your life. So, you can save the life of the President of the United States, George W. Bush, OR you can shoot a Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph, documenting the death of one of the world's most powerful men.

Now, here's the question (please give an honest, thoughtful answer):  ??? ???





Would you select colour film, or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white? ;D :D

It really is a no brainer. The moral dilemma that is, not the chap in trouble.
Personally I would go for a carefully stretched canvas on a birch frame, with a blown matt base. Windsor and Newton oils would form the main basis of the painting, with the emphasis on rich and vibrant blues and a grey wash, and I think I would also go for a carefully applied transparent glaze once complete.
Having said all that, a photo of Bush with an easel and some hogs hair brushes up his ar*e would fetch a fair price from Reuters.

Oh and Andy, I'm still trying to get my head round your tramp story. While there is a certain 'there but for the grace of God' element to it, I can't help thinking you're being a little trampist.
Below is a photo of my dear old Dad minutes after my conception, breaking the good news to Mum, and he managed a 2:53 round the old circuit shortly after this shot.

Phew, and I thought the guy on the photo was calling the fire brigade because he ran out of toilet paper. However, looking closely he looks far to relaxed to be in mayor trouble. Excellent story Andy, I spilled my coffee all over the keybord.  ;D

if it was martin bashir with the camera you would have photos and an interview. that would be 2 interviews of men on the end of their careers......

If you were to contact Kodak and ask them that difficult question of choice, I feel the answer would be, without a question of doubt......

They do not care, as long as you brought film...... and not bl**dy digital cameras..............

I recently read somewhere that Kodak are changing their production.
The say good bye to the classic photography and completely concentrate on digital photography now. In a couple of months you won't be able to buy any Kodak films any more.  ???

I heard that as well.  Pretty soon you'll have to be a professional photographer to be able to buy film........... Hey Rickmister, supplier of film to CA members!!! ;) ;) ;) ;)

I'd heard that they were still going to produce/distribute  film, but they had decided to stop making film cameras in the UK.

I just happen to live in the same city as Kodak headquarters, good ole Rochester, NY.  Kodak, being the largest employer here, has really brightened up the place.  The rivers are the cleanest I've ever seen.  And the clouds are whiter and puffier than can be found in the most tropical of regions.  The people here are the happiest on earth.  Many have purchased new, lavish homes and fancy luxury cars.  The one thing I can't understand though, is how they can take such long vacations.

It is true that they are going to focus on digital cameras but will still produce traditional film.  But I'm not sure whether it will be available in the UK or not.

Now there's a thought!! My own little kiosk on MB, selling films at ridculous prices like they do up by the entrances. Thankfully I have NEVER had to pay those exhorbitant prices. Most I've got through in one race was last year when I managed to fill 67 x 36exp films over the testing and race weekends. Thankfully I have a cracking deal with a local chap on processing and scanning!
