Title: First Time at PQ
Post by: engineerjim on April 14, 2003, 03:02:14 pm
After many years I have managed to get accross to PQ this year.

Could I ask a little bit of preliminary info

What is the situation with regard to "on circuit" refreshments  ( I assume there will be a lot less than June)  also where is the best place to park/camp.

I wouldnt be doing my duty if I failed to reply to this one.
PQ is a much more low key laid back affair. It is much easier to get around and all the grandstands are free, except the ACO which is closed.
There are a few refreshment bars open, mainly on the pits side of the circuit.
We always hotel it as its so cheap, its not worth staying in a tent. However most of the hotels will be booked up by now.
I think the TWATS normally camp and while there are no official camp sites,i think the authorities turn a blind eye to those who want to camp in the car parks.I would suggest you buy an interior parking ticket which as it says on the tin, will allow you to enter the inside of the circuit and have a drive around some of the parts you cant get to on race weekend.we even drove up past the dunlop bridge and watched from the car last year.
Anyway thats it,see you there.

Help me out here... PQ... Pre Qualifying ??? That's the only thing I can think of that seems to fit what your talking about... If I'm right, when does it start/finish?

We are turning up on the Thursday to P16 and was just wondering what will be going on.

Ah...Now it all makes sence... Cheers

So any reccomendations for what to do Thursday evening or during the day on Friday? Or is it simply a case of getting so loaded, the start of the race will come round in a very fast blurr.. 8).... like last year!

You seem to have grasped the general idea for the actual race week, although in my experience, the PQ weekend in May is much more low key and less of a lash up. I see more of the cars at PQ than at the race.

However, to answer your question at the race itself, on the Thursday night can I suggest the Stella Bar at Tertre Rouge, get shedded and watch night practice.

And on the Friday night, can I suggest the Stella Bar at Tertre Rouge, again the same thing but no cars this time. Last year we drank a criminal amount down there and i recall becoming slightly giddy. Dan and the TWATS got thrown out apparently.

And on the Sat morning, can I suggest the Stella bar...

Where can you get an interior car parking ticket from?

The ACO rotundar place?

Will I be able to get one when I turn up on Friday morning?

(these questions referv to PQ in May)

OK regarding PQ

the T.W.A.T.S. will be at PQ, arriving Sat lunchtime, parking/camping in P16 (cost €20) tickets available in advance or on the day opposite museum. We also have a great laugh in the campsite only approx. 100-200 people but offers a good atmosphere with crazy midnight tyre smoking and drinking to be done!!!

can't wait... ;D
