Only 45 minutes quali on Wednesday and 30 minutes for the chosen few on Thursday. No chance for a team to recover after a mishap on Wednesday. Hours and hours of testing laps instead of qualifying, terminal boredom. Are the ACO trying to reduce the attendance in 2020 for some reason? Oh well the bars will do good business I suppose. Title: Re: Hyperpole 2020 Post by: Truck on December 24, 2019, 01:21:19 pm I know it seems odd, but my guess is that it condenses 6 hours of qualifying into a nice 1 hour prime time TV show. Surprise, Surprise.
And recovery is a problem. If you put it in the gravel, or worse, its game over, just like F1. At least the prequalifying is at the end of Wednesdays sessions, but its in the dark. We then have the practical issues for spectators, as we usually bbq about 9:00, and are in bed by 11:00 ;D Title: Re: Hyperpole 2020 Post by: Chrisgr31 on December 30, 2019, 10:07:28 pm Must admit I dont think much of this Hyperpole session. Would be better if it was split a bit more, and it affects our dining arrangements on Thursday!

"Weather" What happens if it rains between sessions or during QF on Wednesday? (which, let's face it, it usually does!). With little or no time to change set-up, there could be an "interesting" field of cars for hyperpole. QF could potentially all be behind a safety car (in extreme circumstances), with no extra time to extend the session after midnight? This has not been thought through......................................... Title: Re: Hyperpole 2020 Post by: Truck on January 04, 2020, 07:53:04 pm …..This has not been thought through......................................... Ok, there's scope for it going wrong with the weather and minor incidents, and it upsets the usual timetable for setting the car up, drivers night laps, having a choice of when to go quick etc plus it ruins my eating habits, but heII, its only qualifying, it doesn't really matter |
