Title: RIP Nicky Hayden Post by: Boorish Grobian on May 22, 2017, 08:25:11 pm Sadly the 2006 MotoGP champ has succumbed to his injuries after being struck by a car while bicycling with some friends near Rimini, Italy last week. The Kentucky Kid was only thirty-five.
Godspeed Nicky. Title: Re: RIP Nicky Hayden Post by: lofty on May 22, 2017, 09:08:34 pm Just read this totally gutted. Great bloke, beat VR's run of championships. Bollox. A few Lemmy's to calm down.

A truly awful outcome. Competing in the environment in which he did, it seems almost perverse that he should be struck down, whilst riding a bicycle. Rest In Peace, Nicky. Indeed. First, one of your side's (of the pond) over here (Bob) And now, one of our side's over there. Very sad. :( Title: Re: RIP Nicky Hayden Post by: Boorish Grobian on May 27, 2017, 07:44:30 pm I have so many great memories of Nicky. Probably my favorite was from back in 2007 when some buddies & I were camped at Mid-Ohio for the AMA Superbike weekend. After the track activities for Saturday were wrapped up we took a stroll through the paddock and we heard that familiar thick Kentucky drawl. Here's the reigning world champ standing there in a t-shirt & shorts, just shooting the bull with the guys. His brothers Tommy, and Roger were both racing that weekend, and since it was a off weekend for MotoGP, Nicky flew in to hangout with his brothers (and the rest of his old AMA colleagues) for the weekend.
I was wearing (and still have) a ball cap that was produced by Arai helmets decorated in his 2006 helmet colors, and he, Tommy, and Roger all signed it for me. It was a regular part of my race day strip when attending a motorbike race, sadly now its been retired. Fax |
