Title: Small WEC grid Post by: Barry on February 03, 2017, 07:39:27 pm Disappointing low number of entries in WEC this year.
One thing I love is the large grids in endurance racing. Certainly re accessing my trip to Spa, long way ( and the cost ) to go to watch a small field. Might just watch it from home instead. Same applies to Silverstone if the weathers iffy. Title: Re: Small WEC grid Post by: Boorish Grobian on February 03, 2017, 08:59:50 pm Agreed, 28 full time entries is a bit on the thin side. Even more worrying is only five LMP1 cars for the full calendar. I've felt for a few years now that LMP1 is a slowly dying class, relying too heavily on factory entries that are at the mercy of boardroom bureaucrats.

Title: Re: Small WEC grid Post by: geoffd on February 06, 2017, 09:42:34 am Good lord no, stay away from GT3, if you think BoP is a problem in GTE, it would be 10 times worse with GT3 cars! There aren't a defined set of rules for GT3, just build a car then BoP it.
And GT3 is no longer that much cheaper, hence the growth in GT4 I think there does need to be a superior GT class for WEC, and GTE does that well. Could do with a few more AM entries though. Hopefully Ginetta will get their customer P1 car sorted for next year, P2 will settle down, with those teams holding off till they see performance levels buying cars later this year. I reckon WEC is just have a pause after a few years of growth and will spring on again next year. We were thinking 'bout Spa this year for WEC but small grid has bent us toward the Total 24 in july. Hopefully a bit warmer as well. Anybody got advise for us on this one? Bestest place to camp?
