Title: Campsites a mudbath Post by: dukla on June 12, 2016, 06:43:43 pm Arnage campsite today is extremely soggy from historic rain. With more forecast for next 7days I would guess at least Arnage will be much worse than 2013. Bring tow straps, snow chains, wellies or whatever would be my advice, potentially dry spots have already gone.
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: lofty on June 12, 2016, 07:54:20 pm Cheers for info . I've got a cylinder of helium from cave dive center and ballons to try and float the van out of any mud.

Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Doris on June 13, 2016, 04:00:54 pm Suddenly being in New York in glorious sunshine doesn't seem so bad. >:D
Who am I kidding? Wishing I was there to play in the mud with all of you. Have a good one guys. I'll be back next year. Dx Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Kev_mk3 on June 13, 2016, 06:13:19 pm Kev, Was there a picture - it didn't come through. A No I meant this as in I'd like to know to. Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: dukla on June 14, 2016, 12:41:22 pm Mega rain storm again last night, any appearance that things are drying out is an illusion.
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Kristof on June 14, 2016, 01:31:48 pm Mega rain storm again last night, any appearance that things are drying out is an illusion. At least the sun came out this morning, let's it will stay dry at least for one day Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Kev_mk3 on June 14, 2016, 07:47:44 pm oh the joys!
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: lynxd67 on June 14, 2016, 08:48:59 pm Mega rain storm again last night, any appearance that things are drying out is an illusion. At least the sun came out this morning, let's it will stay dry at least for one day Wrong! Too late to tell you it hissed down huh? Raining now as I speak too and storms forecast this evening. Surprisingly I popped in to BSJ and apart from some areas it looks not too bad. Oh, and our ferry last night was on time and arrived at Ouistreham with no problems. Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Lord Steve on June 14, 2016, 10:41:16 pm Any reports from Houx?
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: dukla on June 14, 2016, 11:15:15 pm Drove past Houx and BN today. Looked OK but only about 10% occupied and looks could be deceiving. Would need amazing drainage to be good IMHO, certainly 200 or more of the 300 ticket holders at Arnage are going to be very indignant.
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Kristof on June 15, 2016, 09:31:24 am Went to BN yesterday. Entry is getting muddy with all the holes in the road and could/will get worse. Pitches and roads inside BN still seem to be ok though, same for bleu sud. Beausejour will be a muddy mess.
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Nordic on June 15, 2016, 09:47:22 am Are the forecasts for more rain or has the worse passed now?
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: 951Dan on June 15, 2016, 10:33:35 am MeteoFrance still says thunderstorms until friday. On others it also looks like it will be wet at least until friday.
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: lynxd67 on June 15, 2016, 01:19:43 pm Toured BSJ yesterday and was surprised how good it looked in the main. Some very marshy areas, stagnant water etc., but it looked to have been properly cut a few times already and cars were parked in the middle with no traces of wheels dug in. Of course Blue and MB will be fine since sandy soil, but beware the bottom of Houx Annexe!
Still rain forecast until Saturday, but today lovely blue sky at the moment despite the forecast. But beware, storms here normally start about 6pm. Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Kristof on June 15, 2016, 01:40:09 pm Forecasts are still wet untill Saturday.
Race should be better, but saw a forecast today predicting rain around the start and finish Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: smokie on June 15, 2016, 08:55:17 pm Sorry to say on Sunday i reviewed the forecasts and took the easy option and am currently sitting in Egypt where it is dark and 38 degrees. No rain forecast. :-)

No rain forecast. :-) id rather face the Russian mobs than fly to Egypt Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Chrisgr31 on June 16, 2016, 06:23:05 am We are in Epinettes and the one advantage of it being so wet is that you can identify the pitches that flood before you put your tent up! There are a few flooded pitches but most are ok. No issues with mud ........... yet! Actually doesn't look like there will be any as long as people don't try driving through the very wet areas.
At this stage the showers are excellent, might change when all pitches are full! Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: aricus654 on June 16, 2016, 09:49:01 am Sorry to say on Sunday i reviewed the forecasts and took the easy option and am currently sitting in Egypt where it is dark and 38 degrees. No rain forecast. :-) Is that on the WEC calendar? And we have a warm beer with your name on it! Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: aricus654 on June 23, 2016, 08:24:59 am How was the mud? I saw what Arnage was like. Bad. Houx was mostly OK, but very wet at the bottom of slopes. Houx Annex I know had real problems because people were moved elsewhere. But what were other people's experiences. A Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Bonio on June 23, 2016, 10:56:57 am Some of the lower lying fields in BSJ were a marsh, we found a good dry area within the woods just by the entrance to the Porsche Curves. Problem was, so did the other half of the camp site. However all our neighbours were good and we had a great time....
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Si H on June 23, 2016, 01:57:11 pm Epinettes was OK. The bit behind us was a bit soggy when we arrived but that didn't stop a group pitching there later in the week.
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Barry on June 23, 2016, 08:53:35 pm BN absolutely no problem, best campsite for drainage IMHO.
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Rhino on June 23, 2016, 09:59:31 pm Terte Rouge lovely. Couple of puddles but our run off washes down to you lot ;D
Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: PAFC OK on June 24, 2016, 05:48:40 pm Tertre Rouge mainly dry, some lying water in the upper areas.
I spoke to three LM virgins who weren't even allowed onto BSJ due to the quagmire conditions, they were directed to the arena area where they set up their tent as best they could only to be told by 'security' that they weren't allowed to put a tent up there and had it confiscated! Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: mgmark on June 24, 2016, 08:22:22 pm Epinette was mainly good - drained well, ground firm
MG Mark Title: Re: Campsites a mudbath Post by: Lord Steve on June 24, 2016, 08:48:52 pm Houx was fine. We were adjacent to the entrance, next to the bogs and showers and under a huge oak tree.
Lots of security. Happy days. |
