Title: Brittany ferry disruption
Post by: Barry on May 26, 2016, 09:56:36 am
Been keeping an eye on how the strikes are effecting the ferries on the Western channel.

Most are being delayed by about 1 hour but that's all.

The exception is Le Havre, Brittany are cancelling their services into this port at the moment.

The big protest at Le Havre was on the TV.  Usual thing - burning tyres in the road etc.

They said the strategic reserve of petrol should last 3 months (were they expecting this!) but are the ferries and planes going to run low on fuel too?

In a word, no. Simply because the ferries will tank up in the UK or Ireland and the aircraft wherever they are travelling to/from (and, as a visitor to LM form abroad you're not interested in internal flights). Some LoCo airlines fly on 'just enough' relying on tanking at each destination, however the model is easily changed for flights into/out of France as the capacity of A319/320 & B737 is more than enough to allow them to do a return journey.
