Title: Charities Support Post by: aricus654 on September 02, 2015, 09:00:13 pm The club supports two charities, the Worldwide Cancer Research (formally the Association of International Cancer Research AICR) and the Motorsport Safety Fund.
As well as funding training on fire fighting and rescue techniques for marshals, the Motorsport Safety Fund is well known for its annual Watkins Lecture, named after the late Professor Sid Watkins, given at the Autosport International Show at the NEC in January. The 2015 lecture was given by Allan McNish and James Allen. Worldwide Cancer Research (WCR) funds research into cancer in a range of leading research institutions, currently 161 projects in 22 countries. They are currently planning a European car rally next year taking in some research projects and ending at Le Mans with an option of a track day on the Bugatti circuit. I have of course offered our expert support. I am keen that we strengthen our relationship with both organisations and am looking to see how we actively support them. I will provide updates as they emerge. In the meantime, the respective websites are: http://www.motorsportsafetyfund.com http://www.worldwidecancerresearch.org Aricus |
