Driving simulators are becoming quite good now.
Clearly Nissan think so, having sucessfully run the GT Academy for a number of years now.
Grand Tourismo 6 (GT6) looks quite good and has various Le Mans layouts and some historic cars. Microsoft and Sony attend events like Le Mans to show off their tech - this year Sony's PS3 and GT3 with an integrated seat, wheel and pedals were all over the place at Goodwood with a simulation of the Goodwood hill (very tricky but not the best driving road in the world).
What are people's views on simulators and experiences of realism? Has anyone tried other simulators 3d screens or wearable tech?

Loeb's view of what was then the latest Sony pre-release rendition of the le mans track a few years ago is of interest - he'd not turned a wheel at le mans before leaving Turkey (where he'd just won that WRC round), and using the playstation enroute, then jumped into a pescarolo on arrival for the mandatory new driver's pre-qualifying on the same day, and was on the pace within a few laps. Very interesting. A few years ago I used the PlayStation to learn the Nurburgring. By that, I meant that I learned the sequence of corners.
I've driven Spa Francochamps many times, albeit from driving road cars. I find the PS3 GT6 very annoying on both because they aren't quite right, in particular when you can use the physics of the cars compression to increase grip to maximise turn in (Eau Rouge and Pflanzgarten).
I was in awe of Seb Loeb when he did that race.
I'm not Loeb, who is clearly a master, but I'm just looking for something better. The PS3/GT6 is good, and you start to think you are there, but then it lets you down.

GT6 is good as is Forza on the Xbox but after playing once I got back from the Nurburgring I turned it off as it was annoying I couldnt get the car to handle the same :angel:
