Title: Be careful out there... Post by: Grand_Fromage on May 29, 2015, 01:11:23 pm I understand from several well informed sources that the French Police, Gendarmerie and CRS are likely to be present in significantly larger numbers this year at Le Mans and surrounding region. This is part of a stricter national security policy in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo attack.
In practical terms it means that there will zero tolerance of some of the 'exuberant' behaviour often seen in La Sarthe in June, such as the antics of 'mad Friday'. Even if you are otherwise well behaved, it also means more police on the road and a much higher chance of being caught speeding or over the alcohol limit of 0.5mg/ml (0.8 in the UK). I'm sure most of you are sensible and will not be tearing up the A28 at terminal velocity, but if you are tempted, you can be more certain then ever of getting a fast driving certificate, on the spot fine and a risk of having your car impounded. Take care folks! Title: Re: Be careful out there... Post by: aricus654 on May 29, 2015, 03:22:24 pm Thanks Big cheese!
I still have the memory of Charlie Hebdo in my mind, so am not surprised. Sadly I think that we all need to be vigilant these days. There are just too many nutters around. As we're on Houx, I do hope to see Superman pushing a bus back, and I anticipate that I will be required to spin up my wheels on Friday afternoon, should I venture out. Apparently the idiot of all idiots is coming, and there are rumours that he'll be waving the start flag. True or not that, if he is coming then we'll have the BiB in our tents, sleeping bags, cars and wherever else your imagination takes you. I refer of course to none other than he with a popularity rating of 17%, none other than President Hollande.

Post by: Barry on June 04, 2015, 04:32:26 pm I'll look forward the the resounding boos that greet him from the French crowd then. Always brings a smile to my face when they do that.
Title: Re: Be careful out there... Post by: Kpy on June 04, 2015, 05:14:52 pm That would be a bummer, but, given the ACO's ties with the Fillon family I find it hard to believe.
Fingers crossed. Title: Re: Be careful out there... Post by: lynxd67 on June 04, 2015, 05:41:05 pm That would be a bummer, but, given the ACO's ties with the Fillon family I find it hard to believe. Title: Re: Be careful out there... Post by: cja on June 19, 2015, 08:03:14 am The Hollande thing was great - with loud boos ringing out from the stands :)
Although I confess to being a little unnerved by the police sniper on the balcony overlooking the pit entrance! :o It was one of those zoom-in times with the binoculars, that shows a large gun pointed in one's general direction...! Probably a good idea, that it was Bill Ford who waved them all off. Title: Re: Be careful out there... Post by: Barry on June 22, 2015, 05:25:40 pm Showed solidarity with our French hosts by joining in the booing!
Great fun! Title: Re: Be careful out there... Post by: aricus654 on June 22, 2015, 09:36:02 pm Maybe we can get a british politician next time - I would like to express my views in the French tradition. >:D |
