The shirts will be available in the stated colour (white) and the stated sizes (M - XXL). Seeing as thse facts are not debatable, I'll keep this thread relatively clean by removing posts which discuss these issues. No offence intended to any posters. There is a wide choice of sizes. I'd suggest if anyone is in doubt, just get one size up. Don't worry if it's a bit tight, you might be mistaken for a prop in the England team. Were their shirts snug or what? PS I seem to be receiving OK on smokie@stones.com, or you could try geoff@chilipepperprod.com (note chili has only 1 x l) Don't use the c.a.tshirts @ntl or whatever it was as that is well and truly knackered Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: gibberish on December 10, 2003, 09:43:29 am The Union Jack can always be covered over with a transfer of anyones own making. Paper available in PC world, and presumably in other countries as well.
Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: BigH on December 10, 2003, 01:05:02 pm Great work Robbo, well done.
I'm looking forward to receiving Anna's rear. H Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: smokie on December 10, 2003, 11:11:58 pm For administrative ease...and for your convenience...
Cheques to arrive with Robbo by 31 January 2004. £9 per shirt. Please state SIZE and POSTAL ADDRESS and CA NICKNAME with order. Cheques will ALL be cashed during first week of Feb T shirts to be ordered from the printers during second week of February for all cleared and complete funds So send 'em now, post date to end Jan if you want - Robbo will save them up. That would be much easier for him than receiving hundreds all at once. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Liszt on December 11, 2003, 12:00:28 pm Any chance of doing an online transfer direct to your bank?
Saves me having to find a cheque! But if it is easier for you I'll dig out a cheque. Or use one of the wifes ? ;) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: smokie on December 11, 2003, 12:36:11 pm Up to Robbo - but my view is that it is easier for him to track etc if you send a cheque
Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Gilles on December 15, 2003, 06:25:22 pm Xcuse me not sending you any check.... ;)
Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: smokie on December 16, 2003, 11:45:16 pm Please Note
The list above is the whole order as I know it. My filtering rules deleted one (or possibly more) t shirt emails this morning (rules now deleted!) If your order isn't present, or is incorrect, please email me or add to this thread Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: smokie on January 02, 2004, 11:16:49 am Please note I have updated the list above from Robbo's spreadsheet and it still is supposed to represent all orders received.
If you need to change your order or it doesn't appear in the list, please mail me (smokie@stones.com). Please also note that payment date is now becoming imminent. Happy New Year to One and All! Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Bartus on January 03, 2004, 03:36:13 pm A civil war later I still do not know what the price of this t-shirt in Euro is p&p.... ::)
Bartus(who is missing something here....obviously....) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Andy Zarse on January 03, 2004, 04:06:41 pm 1. How is it a civil war if you are from another country? ???
2. I suggest you read Robbo's post in the Xenophobe thread below (and written an hour before you posted above), where you will note with annoyance that a special surcharge of 18Eu is being imposed for payment in unloved Euros. (except probably for Gilles, HGB etc who are all top people). Plus the Tee at 9Eu I guess. Hardly worthwhile buying one is it? :-\. 3. After your juvenile display above, I think that your continuing expressed desire to have a CA tee speaks far more eloquently about your sensibilities as a person than any contributor could here. What a dog's cock! :-* Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Bartus on January 03, 2004, 08:29:39 pm Andy, please stick to words with less than 6 letters, it makes your posting read easier and yourself look less cooky(o = c)...
Bartus(who thinks he stepped on some bloody bloody toes) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Brian(Liverpool boys) on January 04, 2004, 08:47:47 pm Go get him Robbo, have posted our cheque to you today for the Liverpool crews T shirts and suprise, suprise it is in the Queens shilling currency.
Take care. Brian. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: jpchenet on January 05, 2004, 06:17:05 pm Robbo
So to be a pain but can I amend my order to 2 x XL please. The cheques in the post tonight!! Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: smokie on January 05, 2004, 06:55:33 pm Please PLEASE can everyone follow jpchenet's good example and restrict themselves to t-shirt relevant posts in this thread.
Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Bartus on January 06, 2004, 03:48:56 pm For some strange reason I do not seem to get an answer to my initial question about a price in Euro. Rather strange...
Bartus(who wants a t-shirt as well) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: hgb on January 06, 2004, 04:26:59 pm Easy solution...
1) Go to the bank and change your Euros to 10 GBP (whatever the rate is, no idea at the moment). 2) Put the 10 GBP note into an envelop adressed to Robbo. Don't forget to include your adress 3) Wait for the postman (however long it may take) 4) Receive shirt Maybe Robbo is so nice and buys you a beer in June for the extra Pound you spent for the shirt. Or you just happily pay it to compensate the extra hassle and cost he has for sending the shirt to the Euro zone. Hey presto, job done, everybody's happy... :D ;) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Bartus on January 06, 2004, 04:50:09 pm That is a double waste of money cos first I make costs to change to Pounds and than Robbo makes extra costs to change back to Euros in order to be able to buy a beer in June.... ::)
Bartus(who is rather pennywise) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: hgb on January 06, 2004, 05:02:56 pm Hmm, you're right there but didn't you know that LM is one of the biggest "throwing money out of the window" events in the world. That's why I love it. ;D
Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: smokie on January 06, 2004, 06:01:21 pm Braketest - Robbo is just an ordinary person who has volunteered to get some tee shirts printed for fellow members of the site. Obviously he does not want to be (nor should he be) out of pocket, and he is putting in a lot of his own time and effort to make this work. The shirts are being made and supplied at cost, there is no profit anywhere for anyone on this site.
In fact this whole forum is run voluntarily - no-one makes money from it, so you could call it a hobby for us all. While I understand that you want a tee shirt - who wouldn't? - and I also appreciate your concerns regarding the cost, I've already been trying to avert World War 3 on your behalf, but quite honestly this is starting to take more time than I care to spend. It would be helpful if you came up with a suggestion or two about how you COULD pay, or how you are prepared to pay, to get a shirt. I'm sure we can work something out... Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Steve Pyro on January 06, 2004, 06:02:51 pm Robbo / Smokie -
I may well need to raise my order to 18 possibly 20 t-shirts. looks like :- Medium - 2 Large - 11 X Large - 5 I will confirm and send my cheque by the end of this week. Ta very muchly. List amended - smokie Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: 54rossi on January 06, 2004, 08:28:41 pm Hi, Only registered on Club Arnage today but have been a L'mans faithfull for the last 8 years ( I know, slow learner ). Am I in time to order a couple of T shirts both large and whats the payment process.
Cheers. ??? Details of cost and how to order are in the earlier parts of this thread Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: jpchenet on January 07, 2004, 01:39:15 am That is a double waste of money cos first I make costs to change to Pounds and than Robbo makes extra costs to change back to Euros in order to be able to buy a beer in June.... ::) Bartus(who is rather pennywise) OK. I've managed to keep my posts to this thread on the theme for long enough. Bartus/Breaktest/Patience Test. The very early posts of this thread clearly state the cost of the t-shirts. Subsequent posts have covered the additional costs involved if you would like to pay in Euros. Big H has given his time in coming up with the initial design, Robbo has given his time in making this design accessible to the forum members, Smokie, Chris and Grand Fromage give their time in moderating the forum. I know several have already posted similar messages but please........if you want to try to start a "flame" thread, go to the kiddies forums where they belong. If you genuinely want a Club Arnage t-shirt then please act as though you are someone who the volunteers of this forum would be pleased to see/meet wearing one. Should this be the case, I will happily purchase one on your behalf and swap it with you for Euros at the Champagne Bar on the Saturday of the race at 21:00 when we all aim to meet each year for a drink. If thsi is not the case, please, please, please, stop this irrelevant agitation of good people!!! Before last years race, I gave up some of my time to have some Club Arnage window stickers created from the designs of the forum moderators. They were not necessarily to everyones ideal taste, and some people posted to say so. However, all the posts were constructive, and in no means condiscending! Here's hoping this can be VERY quickly resolved so we can all meet up for a drink in June?!?!?! Cheers!! SORRY MODERATORS!!! Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Bartus on January 07, 2004, 10:56:54 am Just for you all to understand....I am a La Mans regular that has missed 2 outof the last twenty races. I have been visiting this site for years and I have been using the info to travel around Le Mans and I do appreciate this site and THAT is why I wanted and still want to buy a t-shirt. My initial question about Euro's was answered with a load a insulting garbage and that is what made me decide to adapt myself to what seems to be the standard: kick back wen you're kicked!
It seems to be too complicated to get one in a currency that you will all need in June so I'll be sending a 10 Pound note to Robbo and hope he'll mail me a t-shirt. Bartus(who will register the nick patience-test lateron today for your convenience) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: smokie on January 07, 2004, 06:55:56 pm Bartus, on behalf of CA, I'm sorry you received a rough ride on your first post. That's not to say it was in impeccable style. Everyone needs to also appreciate that things can take on a different meaning when read rather than heard, and that their particular style of humour doesn't always travel well across languages and cultures.
It's one of the reasons that, in the past, I have deleted posts which could be construed as offensive. I've been criticised for this, so on this occassion I've let it run...and run...and run. But now I've had enough. So, with that out of the way, and now we've all had our say, can we draw a line under it, shake hands, agree to buy one another a beer in June and move on please? Any more unfriendly posts by anyone on this topic will be a waste of your time as they will be removed. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Matt Harper on January 08, 2004, 03:59:40 pm I have had my bottom smacked and decided that i must remove all hurtfull material from this thread , but must leave all material hurtful against Vettes on the site, just to please Mr Harper Yeah, right. Like I give a sh*t. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Matt Harper on January 08, 2004, 07:03:46 pm Poor misguided fool.
Good work on the T-shirts though (just to stay tenuously 'on-thread'). Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: DelBoy on January 08, 2004, 07:17:37 pm Robbo
You've got my order for 4 t-shirts (and a cheque I hope). I'll probably want another 4 - don't know the sizes yet - I'll let you know soonest Cheers DB Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Matt Harper on January 08, 2004, 07:21:52 pm Same problem as ol' Bartus I'm afraid - I exist in the world of the yankee dollar - but here's what I'm going to do. I'll nip to the bank and swap over the nearly 40 f**k*ng bucks it's going to take to get hold of 20 sovs and I'll mail it to you - if you would be kind enough to use the outstanding 11 quid to mail the shirt back to me. Will that work?
I'll need XXL if available, as I'm fairly hefty. Please let me know. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Matt Harper on January 08, 2004, 07:53:41 pm Righteo Robbo
I'll get the necessary done. I can do Sterling or Euro, which do you prefer? (I thought the punch-up with Bartus was because you couldn't do Euro's - I must have misunderstood). I'm not scheduled to be in Europe before June. Please ensure that the Mini memorabilia does not include dog turds, piss of any description, or razor blades sewn into the neckline. Regards Matt Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: jpchenet on January 09, 2004, 01:08:11 am Matt, do you want the t-shirt before June?? Otherwise I'll stand the £9 for you and you can just collect it on the weekend of the race and settle up then. (The same offer still goes for Braketest)
You may even be lucky and the dollar may recover slightly against the old strerling in the meantime. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: smokie on January 09, 2004, 02:11:12 am Or if Matt was REALLY desparate, and the shirts were ready by March, someone might take it to Sebring...?
Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Dave H on January 09, 2004, 02:45:39 am Matthew - what the farg are you buying one of these shirts for? It'll have enormous chlorine burns in it by March and will be totally unusable....
Can someone give him some advice about pool care? Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Liszt on January 09, 2004, 11:11:50 am Or if Matt was REALLY desparate, and the shirts were ready by March, someone might take it to Sebring...? Is the trip to Sebring included in the £2.54? :P Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Matt Harper on January 09, 2004, 03:05:29 pm I am very touched by the thoughtfulness of those who have offered to help me with my CA T-shirt dilema - particularly JPC - your offer to stump-up for my shirt and collect on the day, is extremely generous and I very much appreciate it. So much so, that I'll do you a swap. I will be attending the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Daytona 500 and the 12 Hours of Sebring and possibly the Indy 500 prior to Le Mans. Would you rather have the 9 quid, or a shirt of your choice from one of these classics - or a 6-pack of Grimbergen?
If you decide on the shirt, let me know your girth and I'll get you sorted. Granted, US racing shirts tend to be somewhat more garish than the restrained tones of Big H's design - but the artwork and quality are the bollocks. If you decide on the Grimbergen, I cannot be held responsible for any subsequent unpleasent consequences. Please let me know JPC Matt p.s. Additionally, this strategy will ensure that I do not conduct any pool maintenance while wearing my CA colours (I burned a f**k*ng great hole in a $70.00 Rolex polo shirt, due to my sloppy handling of chlorine - thanks for telling the world, Dave) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: dryhen on January 09, 2004, 03:50:12 pm Robbo-
Thanks for your work ! Two shirts - Large - please Chq in post today (2nd class post - can't afford First now I've paid ferry & ACO !) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Matt Harper on January 09, 2004, 08:17:49 pm Well done Robbo.
Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: jpchenet on January 09, 2004, 09:30:13 pm Robbo: Thanks for sorting Matt's t-shirt. Additional cheque on it's way.
Matt: The idea of a US based shirt sounds great, and thanks for the generous offer. As I have no idea on designs I'll leave myself in your hands. Size is XL. Thank You!! Does Dave want one as well?? Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Matt Harper on January 09, 2004, 10:51:19 pm Dave's missus is currently going about the business of ejecting their first born, so I suspect his mind will be on things other than CA shirts right now. But, sod it! If you don't mind 'giving me a push' until Le Mans, lets get him one too. He's not quite as humungous as me so XL should just about go over his man-tits.
I'll get you a Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona shirt in XL and Dave will secure one from Mobil 12 Hours of Sebring - you'll be the envy of La Sarthe. Alternatively, we could do combo of shirt/baseball cap - whichever you prefer. Thanks again JPC - you're a star player. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: jpchenet on January 10, 2004, 10:41:01 pm No problems Matt!! :D And the second shirt sounds great thanks!
Robbo, that makes my allocation 1 x XXL and 3 x XL Second cheque on the way for the difference. :) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Dave H on January 11, 2004, 03:34:28 am Has anyone elses' Mrs been in labor for 4 f**k*ng days? There is no way you should be out of pocket, even temporarily. I know that I am not the only one on the forum who feels this way! Come on people. You must know who you are!! Check your bank statements. Make sure your cheque has been cashed and not "Lost In The Post" Robbo, rather than wait until June, I'll take a couple of "extras" off your hands if needs be! Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Chris24 on February 08, 2004, 02:49:49 am Robbo,

Thanks Chris Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Brian(Liverpool boys) on February 08, 2004, 12:58:34 pm Robbo, just a suggestion, could you not post a list of who has paid and the cheques cleared that way those that have sent money would know that it has been recieved putting their minds at rest and it will also jog the barstewards that have not.Only a suggestion.
Brian. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: smokie on February 08, 2004, 04:18:10 pm Those who haven't paid have been written to more than once, so if you haven't heard you can put your mind at rest.

Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Nordic on February 27, 2004, 10:22:22 am Another one arrived safely here, tried it on and went to the pub to show it off, a bit cold, but i was fighting the babes off with a broom handle,m all due to my new status as a fashion leader. It is well known that Crawley girls are choosy but the Tee won much praise.
Well done Big H for a classic design that will, I am sure, last the test of time and redifine the art of T shirt design. Well done Robbo for getting your sweat shop on the coast to produce a product that so closely follows the design que's of the original. I am sure we are seeing the birth of a new fashion house to rival Channel, Joe Bloggs and Millets. Incidentally, after a recent visit to Crawley for "refreshment" one evening, being somewhat "over refreshed", I found myself in a Crawley kebab shop at 11.00 at night. There was a typical Crawley mum with her two kids in there. Youngest kiddy was a baby in a pushchair, the oldest was about five, complete with mini tracksuit, shaven head and an earring. He was quite a live wire and was looking at the various foods etc behind the chiller cabinet glass. Suddenly his little eyes lit up as he saw what was rotating on the big stick in the window. "What's that thing, mum?" he said as he pointed exitedly "What is it?". His mother put a caring arm around his shoulders and said, "Son. That's the Donor Kebab". I like to think he had been shown the holy grail. :-X :D ;) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Nordic on February 27, 2004, 06:12:14 pm Ahh Bewbush or upper tollgate hill as he called it :o my brother used to live there until he moved to the west bank for a quite nights sleep, all you could hear are the screams and shouts of gangs of teenagers high on cider. Great place.

Haven't got mine yet so will have to wait until I am back in Jersey next Monday. I think Mrs RS2 (aka 50cc man) asked you to send them there and not France. So then you will have Anna, Hannah & Lisa (moi) to model Tshirts and I so want one of those tattoo things but I would like the Audi 4 rings! Thanks Robbo RS2 Babe :-* Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Chrisgr31 on February 27, 2004, 06:39:11 pm It is well known that Crawley girls are choosy Which part of Crawley would that be Nordic? Then of course there are the punch ups in the High Street after a few beers, and these start at about midday! I also found a Crawley mother in the kebab shop, buying a kebab for her daughter and her. The daughter was in a push chair. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Andy Zarse on February 27, 2004, 06:45:44 pm Chris, didn't she ask for chilli sauce on the daughter's kebab?
You won't be surprised to learn the kebab shop to which I refered was the Matter of Taste in the High street, (part news agents, part kebab shop). Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Steve Pyro on March 02, 2004, 12:26:45 pm Has anyone had any experience / success / comments about those print-on / iron-on sheets you can get from PC World etc?
I want to 'customise' our CA t-shirts with our club LM logo (about 4" square) and don't particularly want to f**k up a damn good t-shirt. Ta very muchly. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Robbo SPS on March 02, 2004, 12:44:48 pm Has anyone had any experience / success / comments about those print-on / iron-on sheets you can get from PC World etc? STEVE DO NOT DO IT. My football club tried it in 2002 for a tour and most looked crap after they were ironed on. The colours dont come out and they looked shocking. You will ruin the shirts. - Try finding a T shirt printer , they are popping up in town centres now and will do the business for you , although maybe a little more £££ than you had hoped to pay. If in doubt , i can ask my friend !!!! Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Andy Zarse on March 02, 2004, 12:51:06 pm Yes Steve, we use them every year for the official Commer poster/teeshirt.
Generally they are pretty good. They're relatively cheap and easy to produce with a little practice. Get the iron really hot and press down hard!. You should be able to but some cheap white tees for a couple of quid. No point getting expensive ones as the longevity is poor and they are pretty screwed after the sixth trip round the washing machine. Certainly good enough for Le mans. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: rcutler on March 02, 2004, 12:56:50 pm Has anyone had any experience / success / comments about those print-on / iron-on sheets you can get from PC World etc? I want to 'customise' our CA t-shirts with our club LM logo (about 4" square) and don't particularly want to f**ck up a damn good t-shirt. Ta very muchly. I have used these for many years but be aware that they make the area on the T-Shirt considerably thicker. This means that you will sweat more if the picture is large and they are not very flexible. Make sure that you print them weeks before le mans so as to give yourself more time to get professional ones done. See you out in Londinium again soon Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Bartus on March 02, 2004, 01:00:03 pm Nice t-shirt indeed...but you sent me the version with the union-jack on the sleeve and I ordered the one with our own red, white and blue... ;D

Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Chris24 on March 03, 2004, 01:55:21 pm I made t shirt for Le Mans last year using the iron on stuff from PC world.
Remember to print a mirror image of what you want ! The thing to remember is not to get the iron/ t shirt iron on print too hot other wise it burns/ yellows the print. Keep the iron moving over the print at all times. They do start to flake / crack at the edges though after a few washes, and don't like being folded either. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Chrisgr31 on March 03, 2004, 05:52:00 pm Chris, didn't she ask for chilli sauce on the daughter's kebab? You won't be surprised to learn the kebab shop to which I refered was the Matter of Taste in the High street, (part news agents, part kebab shop). Don't you think Crawley has improved out of all sight recently? ??? Same one, probably the same women! The Fastway works haven't half improved the town! Mind you still no roadworks on my escape route! About the only road there aren't roadworks! Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Chrisgr31 on March 03, 2004, 05:56:59 pm Has anyone had any experience / success / comments about those print-on / iron-on sheets you can get from PC World etc? I want to 'customise' our CA t-shirts with our club LM logo (about 4" square) and don't particularly want to f**ck up a damn good t-shirt. Ta very muchly. I tried them some years ago and I found them quite sucessful. Indeed still using the T Shirts for painting and decorating and the pattern is still there, albeit faded! I'd suggest practising first though, you don't need to use a full page transfer, and as someone has pointed out the transferred part of the T Shirrt becomes thick and warm! My guess is you get what you pay for, and I used the Epson transfers, don't know what the cheaper ones are like (probably identical product!) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: gibberish on March 04, 2004, 09:39:23 am The Fastway works haven't half improved the town! Don't be silly Chris. I keep asking, but I still can't find anyone who knows what the point of having those guided lanes is. Seems bloody ridiculous. Typical Crawley Council way of causing total mayhem! Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Nordic on March 04, 2004, 04:34:23 pm Bloody fastway, don't get me started on that giant pile of kak, what a f**k*ng waste of money (£30 f**k*ng million), only goes between Broadfield and the dole office, every shagging shelter is smashed up, two lanes reduced to 1, f**k*ng traffic lights everywhere.
I love it >:( [attachment deleted by admin] Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Chrisgr31 on March 04, 2004, 06:43:41 pm I can't work out what stops cars driving along the guided route. by definition of its wide enough for a bus it's wide enough for a car!
Anyway why shouldn't those on the Dole have a decent bus service? Gets them to the town quicker to spend the money on tracksuits and beer! The launch of Fastway was right outside our office window. That was a really exciting event. The Hawawian Tropic girls had nothing on that. Oh hold on back to the real world! To be honest I have nothing against decent public transport, and if I was always going to and from the same places at the same times I'd use it. But in reality thats not possible! Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Brian(Liverpool boys) on March 05, 2004, 12:40:00 am How the fluck did we get onto bus lanes on a T shirt thread. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: pretzel on May 06, 2004, 02:26:16 pm I think it's up to us to thank you, Robbo. Indeed. Just out of interest - like others we have had additional printing done on ours, courtesy of a local T shirt printers. They managed to mis-spell a name, thereby f*cking up an already fairly unique shirt. They offered to replace it by copying the whole design - the end result being not too bad but with some minor colour variation. We therefore have the first counterfeit CA 'T' shirt :) Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: Steve Pyro on May 06, 2004, 02:38:51 pm That's pretty good service.
For the 20 t-shirts I had customised with our design, I had to sign a disclaimer in case they spilt ink over the CA t-shirts. Title: Re:T Shirt Post by: pretzel on May 06, 2004, 02:54:20 pm That's pretty good service. For the 20 t-shirts I had customised with our design, I had to sign a disclaimer in case they spilt ink over the CA t-shirts. Yes - I thought so too. I think they had a similar discliamer about making mistakes (these are the heat transfer people rather than ink printers mind) but the poor sod who got the spelling wrong had already made the offer to replace, and I had of course accepted it. Took a couple of weeks but a reasonable job. I was told by the operative concerned that he was close to getting the sack for making the offer as it was not company policy. I think that a little more apologising when things go wrong and making the effort to make amends goes a long way. I would certainly use them again so it cannot be TOO bad for business eh? In my view he should have been praised by his manager for taking the initiative and solving the problem to the customer's satisfaction, and I told them as such. It's one of my pet subjects this customer service business. I'm not directly involved in this aspect of business professionally but it does seem to me that the 'customer is always wrong' (think disclaimers etc.) attitude that pervades all sorts of companies really is negative from all sorts of perspectives.
