PM Title: Re:England V France Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on November 30, 2003, 04:02:37 pm What time is kickoff?
The Denmark game was very well planned last year - watched in the Danish beer tent on Beausejour with some Danish mates, had time to walk to the grandstand in time for the start of the race. Radio Le Mans did a great job providing commentary for the match too ;D (http://oddsnsods.dreamracers.net/6.jpg) Title: Re:England V France Post by: powermite on November 30, 2003, 04:15:29 pm I think is around 7 or 8 in the evening on Sunday
PM Title: Re:England V France Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on November 30, 2003, 04:26:08 pm Cool, just enough time to get to the hotel then! ;D
Title: Re:England V France Post by: Robbo SPS on November 30, 2003, 11:47:13 pm I was going to take a TV, but havent a clue which if any french tv station it will be played on ??
Gilles ????? Title: Re:England V France Post by: Gilles on December 01, 2003, 09:17:12 am ??? Stupid question ???
The match is already considered here as a "revenge" of the Australian swimming rugby party :'( And this first turn is planned to be easy for the both teams... ... so to make my answer more efficient: YES we will see it on French TV, maybe a pub could be a great place to do it !!!! :D Title: Re:England V France Post by: Steve Pyro on December 01, 2003, 09:41:55 am We will all still be camped on Sunday night - hopefully in Houx Annexe (probably be mighty pissed though). The match should give us something to "focus" on ;D
Title: Re:England V France Post by: Mr. Rick on December 01, 2003, 09:56:19 am Budger! Not being of massive footie persuasion (I follow Welling United and they don't play football too often - getting better though) and on a slightly selfish note - this is gonna screw up my 40th bash plans! Was gonna have a "bit of a do" on the Sunday night but I guess the majority of our little group will be wanting to go watch this somewhere, oh well .......
;D Title: Re:England V France Post by: mgmark on December 01, 2003, 10:05:16 am What's the interest in a non-motorsport distraction from drinking on the sunday evening when the result is a foregone conclusion anyway ??????
Title: Re:England V France Post by: jpchenet on December 01, 2003, 10:06:50 am For anyone planning on taking a TV, I believe the French TV's are different to ours?? Certainly one of the guys in our group who has a small Gites in France had to buy a french TV. Not sure why so I'll do some investidating. Of course, a satellite dish would resolve this ;)
Maybe it's all round to Mr Toad's motorhome!?!? ;D Title: Re:England V France Post by: Steve Pyro on December 01, 2003, 10:13:17 am Whilst UK TV is broadcast in the PAL system, I believe the French use SECAM. You would need a TV that receives this method of broadcasting.
The difference can be compared to our PAL and the US NTSC system. Title: Re:England V France Post by: Steve Pyro on December 01, 2003, 10:14:28 am Budger! Rick, it looks like two old 40 year olds will have to commisserate together :'(;D Title: Re:England V France Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on December 01, 2003, 10:20:44 am Gilles has the idea - find a pub! ;D

Title: Re:England V France Post by: Steve Pyro on December 01, 2003, 10:38:01 am Well, my vote is for a pub in Arnage village then. See you all there. Title: Re:England V France Post by: saveloy on December 01, 2003, 11:37:01 am who really care about footie, it's a second rate sport with a third rate national team. we're going to le-mans for the cars Mainly.
Good team to support Title: Re:England V France Post by: Rhino on December 01, 2003, 11:37:49 am We bought one of those tv radios last year in one of the supermarkets. cost about £40.
Title: Re:England V France Post by: Steve Pyro on December 01, 2003, 12:14:50 pm A couple of years ago I was woken from my slumber in Karting Nord on Sunday morning by the noise from a TV in the tent behind us. They had hooked up to a satellite dish.
They were watching ......... Le Mans 24 hours on Eurosport ??? ??? I mean ... the race was going on just over THERE .... Title: Re:England V France Post by: Steve Pyro on December 01, 2003, 12:16:46 pm who really care about footie, it's a second rate sport with a third rate national team. we're going to le-mans for the cars Mainly. True, but the whole England v France patriotism thing will be hard to avoid.Good team to support Remember England v Denmark in 2002 ? Title: Re:England V France Post by: Robbo SPS on December 01, 2003, 07:08:17 pm In 2000 , we all went to watch the footy in Tetre Rouge, which had a great atmosphere , but warm beer.
2002 was in the little pub just opposite the EXPO camp entrance and it was so full , you had to pass each others drinks on from the car. Great result though. Denmark lost. Title: Re:England V France Post by: Mr Toad on December 01, 2003, 08:01:45 pm Although I can't handle much football myself, Doctor, Buzz and Sticky are footie nutters, so we are bound to be showing this one from our motorhome feed. Our TV in the lounge is only c 20" though (even smaller in the main bedroom), so I might need to think about a projector or something so we can beam it outside.
Spookily at Le Mans during the last World Cup, England scored without fail everytime I opened abottle of champagne - I better put a case to one side for this game! Toad Title: Re:England V France Post by: smokie on December 02, 2003, 12:44:47 am Given that my travelling compaion Mark is a big footy fan, you might be pleasantly surprised with some company on Sunday night Mr Toad...
We're normally travelling home by then, but I suspect 2004 will be different. You're on MB aren't you? Title: Re:England V France Post by: Stu on December 02, 2003, 08:26:00 am Quote True, but the whole England v France patriotism thing will be hard to avoid.Remember England v Denmark in 2002 ? Quote Especially after (according to the Mail) after the french president hijacking the england rugby victory and saying it was a victory for Europe. Title: Re:England V France Post by: jpchenet on December 02, 2003, 11:09:26 pm That's right Stu. Although I would like to be the first to point out that the semi final loss by France was purely a loss for France!!!!!!! Nothing to do witha loss for Europe at all!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Title: Re:England V France Post by: Mr Toad on December 03, 2003, 08:37:02 pm Smokie - affirmative with fair wind and some tickets. I spoke to our team IT God today - he's got a projector sorted, so we just need a hook up to our decoder now...

I spoke to our team IT God today - he's got a projector sorted, so we just need a hook up to our decoder now... And a very large white sheet as a screen. Have to make sure that it's champagne cork proof though Toad. Can't do with any holes in it!! ;) Title: Re:England V France Post by: Robbo SPS on December 04, 2003, 12:32:07 am By hook or crook , i will have a TV showing the game on which ever campsite i get allocated. Even if it means buying a french TV in Carrefour.
Title: Re:England V France Post by: Alfa Dave on December 04, 2003, 12:05:00 pm I think this also clashes with the Canadian GP (subject to Tabacco sponsorship agreement) Footy kicks off at 19.45 (French time?) and the GP usually starts at 19.00 French time. We've often watched the GP in a bar in Le Mans - next year - dilemma. (Two satellite dishes?)
Title: Re:England V France Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on December 04, 2003, 12:31:24 pm oh bugger... hadnt thought about that..... ???
