I always thought that would be a good piece of music at my funeral when my coffins disappearing behind the curtains. That and the Birdy Song that is. Or even the Yogi Bear song come to think off it. Aaahhh, the Yogi Bear song, those halcyon days on MB.   :) :) :)

I once went to Le Mans on my uncles passport. We had mixed them up when we had returned from rallying in Belgium. Next week i went to Le Mans, no problem even though we don't look anything like each other.

No where near. Friday morning maybe. I've still got transport to finalise as well as the planned chariot is at the TT at the moment, but it's all falling into place. We'll be there Monday lunchtime after picking up the trailer. Bring it on.  :) :)

I never panic although my arse does flap like a sh*t house door as many people will testify.  If it doesn't arrive tomorrow its down to Durham passport office on Saturday with the rotisserie spit. Got email back this afternoon saying it went to printing on June 1st and takes 4 to 5 days delivery. Some couriers they are. I sometimes think things were better and easier before we did stuff online. Anyway I've got the van.

Strong rumours circulating on social media that there is a small angry crowd gathering outside Durham passport office, reports suggest that a work experience lad has been captured and negotiations are ongoing. Cries of "what are you going to do with that rotisserie?!" were heard a short time ago from the back of a small van  ;D

Well, after spending this morning on the phone and hearing that it hadn't left the printers (story number 4), then travelling to Durham and they eventually rang Liverpool to be told it was posted on Wednesday and would probably arrive today (story number 5), it didn't so I rang them back asking them the simple question,
'Do you know where my passport is?'
Its probably at the couriers but they have nothing to do with us so i can't really say.
Eh yes they do because you use them.
Errrhh I'm really sorry, you'll have to ring them.
Do you have a tracking number?
errh no we don't do them.
The woman I spoke to this morning said you did so how do you know where the passports are?
Well I don't know why she did that, we don't have tracking numbers. Heres the number.
Rang number and they shut at 4 and are not open untill Monday.

So I'm not going tomorrow, the lads are going to take the van down, I'm going to have to spend all Monday chasing it up hopefully to fly out on Tuesday morning. One way fight £404, return flight £200  ??? ???

I was also speaking to my sister in law who is in France at the moment and she's heard of 2 other people with passport problems. One was a 90 year old veteran going over for the Normandy remembrance. He ended up at one at Sedgefield. As my mate just pointed out the poor bloke didn't need a passport the first time he went over.

f**k*ng Bastards, they couldn't lie straight in bed at night. Makes you wonder about all this passport security bollocks when they don't even know where the ones they've got are.

Glass of beer, all calm now, rant over, continue packing the van.  :)

Good luck in your Hunt, my son's passport was delivered to the wrong house, without a signature, where it sat for a month. The passport office kept fobbing us off until they could no longer argue why it was taking so long.
Apparently, it is OK for the courier to leave it without a signature , unfortunately the couriers need to be able to read, and determine the difference between the number 3 and number 2.

I have some escalation points if that helps, but as you are on site, I suspect you probably have all the right resources to hand.

It's a national disgrace. They use the cheapest possible courriers. Mine was delivered by an illegal immigrant in her own twenty year old Fiat Seicento. There was a whole basket of passports on the passenger seat, yet the nearside door didn't even shut properly let alone lock, as all the door innards were dangling out. Not her fault on the utter peanuts she was no doubt being paid, but still, someone higher up wants f**k*ng.

Title: Re: The "will stu get a passport and book his ferry in time" thread
Post by: Stu on June 09, 2014, 08:51:47 pm
Well, at 8am this morning I rang the couriers who had no record of my delivery or any in my street. Back on to passport who didn't seem to know what had happened and said Liverpool would contact me. So down to Durham and managed to get in without an appointment again. Spoke to this nice lady who looked as baffled as me when she was reading the log so she rang Liverpool and got the lad there to investigate it straight away. After 20 mins he rang me back via the reception desk and said he had found it in the post room. They said they could courier it up which could take up to 2 days so I left to pick it up. Apparently after printing they had recalled it back to do it again  ???  So after an impromptu childminding session from 1:30 to 4:30am this morning whilst next door had a casualty emergency then a drive to Liverpool and back I'm now shattered. Flight from Leeds to Paris CDG booked and should arrive at Blu Nord about 8pm. Bring it on. Can't wait. Bon Voage every one. And do call in for a beer.

In other news from the Liverpool Boys camp: One member of the Scottish branch, due to arrive Thursday around 3pm has had an exam related nightmare, he is now arriving Friday afternoon via the worlds most expensive easyjet flight and a first class journey on the TGV  ::)

Hopefully that's an end to the dramas and I'll be suitably drunk for his arrival on Friday  ;D

Looking forward to it. Web splashed out on flights to CDA so we don't need to d**k around on that underground in Paris. Straight off the plane and onto the train to Le Mans.

How hard can it be?  >:D

Due to TGV times from CDG, I'll get there half an hour quicker going via Montparnasse and in a 24hr race every second counts. I also nearly had the 6:25am flight from Newcastle booked and when I went for the final click, it doubled in price to nearly £400 so I then went for the lunch time one and that one suddenly became full. Wifes telling me somethings trying to stop me and I shouldn't be going. Anyway afternoon flight from Leeds £98.
