Title: Goodwood 72nd Members Meeting
Post by: Steve Pyro on April 01, 2014, 07:53:44 pm
Last weekend was the Goodwood 72nd Members Meeting.  The weather was beautiful.  The event was very similar in format to the Revival (but without the crowds).
I was able to wander around the circuit and access all the grandstands and pits, so managed to get some decent photographs.
I've uploaded 50 or so to Flickr if you fancy having a look.

It was so good that if it runs again next year, I might forgo the Revival and do this instead, (although I do like those taxi girls at the Revival).

Clearly there weren't enough members taking it up, which is why it was opened up to non-members, but that decision was made very late. And, as it was about as crowded as the first Revival, I'm not sure Lord March turned a profit, so although I hope it runs next year, I would understand if it didn't.

Perhaps he should run it in the "off years" from the Classic?

My highlight was the Le Mans car run, especially as they were clearly giving it some juice on the Sunday run.

I'm not currently booked for the Classic, maybe I should - any recommendations?

Aricus

The only thing to worry about is the weather, which is why i think many people were late buying tickets. The previous year we had snow that weekend.

There was a half hour highlights programme on Ch4 on (early) on Sunday morning. Avaialble on CH4OD (http://www.channel4.com/programmes/motor-sport/4od#3679559)

I caught it on the +1, and there is a second programe this weekend (http://www.tvguide.co.uk/detail/1946918/97961457/goodwood-72nd-members-meeting) aswell so have set the recorder for that one now.

Looks like some very good racing.
