Club Arnage

Earlier this year, I was one of five people chosen to receive a Go Pro Hero 3 camera in a competition run by Sebring Raceway in Florida. All five contestants then had to film their Sebring experience with the camera and submit the footage to Sebring. Sebring Raceway has commissioned a company to edit each of the contestants footage into a short film of around 3 ½ minutes long. The final part of the competition to decide the overall winner of the competition involves each of the short films being placed online for a 12 hour period, whichever contestants film gets the most “hits” during their 12 hour window, wins the overall competition prize which is basically 2 tickets to next year’s 12 Hours of Sebring race, paddock car parking pass, event poster and GoPro goodies etc.

My short film will be going online on Wednesday 3rd July at around 10:45am Florida time or 3:45pm UK time and this is where I need everyone’s help. Once my film is online, I will repost again on this thread on Wednesday afternoon with the link to my film. All I ask is that as many people as possible please click on the link to my film. I don’t care if you watch the film or not but a click counts as a hit on the counter. I am posting this on all the online forums that I am a member of and also on Facebook etc as I feel that with such a large membership across all the forums, if the majority click on my film, I think I stand a very good chance of getting the most hits and winning the competition.

So please check back on Wednesday afternoon for the link. The film may only be viewable via Sebring Raceways Facebook page but I am not sure until Wednesday, also it may have to be viewed on a PC as may not be available to mobile phone.

ill vote. How did you find editing the footage off the go pro mind as ive some to do as i have one

To be honest Kev, so far I have only editted one video as i was using a trial version that watermarked the video. My PC however needs more memory to be able to deal with the HD footage so until I get that sorted, then I don't want to waste my time editting it. Once sorted I need to use a proper version without the watermark. I friend sent me a copy of the software without the watermark but it appears to be missing the key elements that I used to edit with on the trial version. Once I get my head around it all, I will post back about it.

can you not upgrade it from the go pro website? The issue with the black edition is you need a mega computer to edit the files on max. Most people and myself reduce the resolution and other bits as otherwise its over kill

It produces MP4 files. I have downloaded the GoPro software too but again not much use until I upgrade my computers memory plus delete a lot of sh*t that is slowing it down big time at the moment. (HD full)

Hopefully my video should appear from here, but if not please click on ""2013 GoPro Ultimate Fan Experience" which is under Playlists a bit further down the screen. There should only be one video viewable (mine) as the others are disabled and listed as private video as each video is only activated during the 12 hour voting / viewing period for each video.

This should be viewable from 3:45pm and will be online for 12 hours. It can only be viewed on a PC though as it hasn't been activated to be viewed on a mobile phone but there isn't anything I can do about this unfortunately.

Many thanks for your help and appreciate any hits that the forum members can generate for my competition entry and fingers crossed that my film gets the mosts hits. I am looking forward to see how they editted my 1 hour and 30 minutes of footage down to a short 3 minute film.

I hope to be able to provide a direct link once it goes online in a few hours.

Their idea is a bit naff as I am likely to want to watch all of the videos.   

Still I sort of have a plan :-)

I think they will probably be available to view again once all 5 videos have had their respective 12 hour voting period.

My Go Pro Hero Fan Contest Video is now online to view for the next 12 Hours. Think a lot of my Sebring friends are going to like it as it features a great number of them and tributes to missing friends as well.

How do we vote? Does it just count the unique hits I wonder? I watched it on five separate devices :-)

Thanks Geoff, yes they are just counting the number of views but are maybe checking IP addresses to see if there are multiple clicks.  Counter never seemed to change once it got to 301 views but hopefully it was still counting.

I viewed is several times from different PCs and Different IP addresses.  :-)

Watched it yesterday Chris. Strangely the only video that came up in my browser was yours anyway!

On a slightly related note, you were sitting on the terraces not far from us for the start at LM this year but you were dozing on and off so didn't come over to disturb your beauty sleep. I do however have a very attractive photo of you mid snore and with your waterproofs around your ankles. Promise I won't publish it here though  ;)

Go on Rick, I won't hold it against you, promise ! LOL Me asleep on the terraces at LM, never, no, never happens that ! ;)

All that partying the night before finally took its toll  ;)

I cant believe the amount of people in general falling asleep at the start of the race, at least 6 people around me (including 2 people i was with at track side) fell asleep

Why not, after partying friday night, we are up at 8 am to be in the circuit for 9:30 am, then sit there all day in the sun waiting for the start at 3pm and in the mean time drinking home made strong red wine given to us by the french group behind us and add to that our own whiskey. why wouldn't we fall asleep ! ;D

            Totally agree. Even if you only have one beer with each friend you have not seen for a year or more and very little sleep since boarding the ferry on Tuesday  ;D Nodding off is completely understandable.  ;D

Ahh, another advantage to watching the race from sunny Florida...it starts at 9am so we doze like that during the night part of the race and then wake up at 10pm...4am at LM and watch the race to the end...alas a bit of dozing is observed even then.

It hasn't been officially announced yet by Sebring as they are busy with ticket sales for next years race as they went on sale this week, but I have had an e mail to tell me that my video officially got the most views so I have won the contest.
