Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Grand_Fromage on June 13, 2013, 08:39:23 pm For those of you stuck at home but would still like to feel close to the action.
Amongst other things, the Club Arnage editorial team will again be providing the live text service for the ACO 24 hours website http://www.24h-lemans.com/en/ (http://www.24h-lemans.com/en/). To help us do this, we have a Skype text conference open over the duration of practice, qualifying, warm-up and the race in full. If you will be watching your local TV feed at home, you could be part of the live text extended team by directing your observations and comments to us live via a Skype text. If you would like to join in, just let me know and I'll set you up as a live text contributor. Perhaps your comments might even end up on the official feed! Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Brian on June 13, 2013, 08:50:00 pm Perhaps your comments might even end up on the official feed!

Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Piglet on June 18, 2013, 06:46:21 pm Count us in this....we were due to leave yesterday but the dog is in the veterinary hospital again with another intestinal blockage so the trip is off ::)
Managed to flog the GA's for their normal face value and the camping pass for half it's value...nearly cried when I handed it over this morning :'( So we're here for the duration. Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Andy on June 18, 2013, 06:51:46 pm Sorry to read the news piglet was looking forward to seeing you after a few years.

Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: gatordad on June 18, 2013, 09:35:40 pm I have to cheese, beer, wine, meat and cigars bought. I pick up the bread on Friday. We have the 13th annual "Breakfast at Le Mans" party at my house that begins at 8:30am and continues until you can't take it anymore. Then we go fishing or bar hopping and return for the overnight slog drinking Irish whiskey and/or Kentucky Bourbon. The door is always open, the beer is always cold, there is food in the fridge and the 60" TV is always on. come and go as you like...no drinking and driving though...
Let The Games begin! Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: smokie on June 19, 2013, 11:56:08 pm Eurosport had the qualifying. They were asked a question about how many cameras they have out on track. Answer was none during qualifying - "although it's not quite Liverpool, we don't want to put out expensive HD cabling and equipment before Saturday..."
Shall we tell them that Liverpool is coming to France Brian? Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Lazy B'stard on June 20, 2013, 02:14:29 pm Budge up and make room for a little one. It wasn't looking good for this year anyhow although I booked flights and trains at the weekend to head down on Friday. I thought I would be able to get down for a quick weekend break if nothing else, but a wee accident on Tuesday buggered that up. As a result I have an stired up an old injury to my back. A trapped nerve sent the whole lot into spasm and I've torn some muscles. I spent most of yesterday morning getting x-rays to make sure nothing is broken. I'm now at home with lots of happy drugs. I half watched last nights qualifying session in a bit of a daze, and hope to watch the rest of the race whilst laying on the floor.
Kinda gutted but I was almost resigned to it not happening anyway. Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: mike(liverpool boys) on June 20, 2013, 05:21:34 pm Eurosport had the qualifying. If you lads and lassies like, you may want to join in at the ten tenth chatroom throughout the Le Mans week. We are a friendly bunch of chatters who all share the passion for the 24h as well. You can find it at http://www.ten-tenths.com/chat/index.php (http://www.ten-tenths.com/chat/index.php) , just make sure you enter a username and come visit us. The sites irc web client is a bit lazy at times so I'd recommend using an irc client software like mirc, chatzilla, icechat or joining through browser based clients like mibbit. By using mibbit you can join directly through the following link: http://chat.mibbit.com/?server=irc.phishy.net&channel=%23motorsport (http://chat.mibbit.com/?server=irc.phishy.net&channel=%23motorsport) With classic software clients the adress is: URL: irc://irc.phishy.net/ channel: #motorsport port: 6667 See you there. Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Andy77 on June 21, 2013, 10:23:01 am I should get me a red flag and raise that one in honour of red flags ;D
I only can hope we don't get to see a N24 2013 style red flag period throughout the LM24 >:( Hmm, got enough vanilla pudding, drinks and tea. I should get me some food today. On the other hand, I got enough strawberries to survive a weekend too :D ... Strawberry milk soon :P ... I guess, I will end up with with the mad dash to the supermarket between the legends race and pre-race like last year haha Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Boorish Grobian on June 21, 2013, 06:49:22 pm After work Sat. will be camped out on a bar stool at the pub, wearing my Bretheren shirt (which will be a big hit with the local ex-pats). To bad they don't stock any crummy French beer though. Get up Sunday morning and fix a big FEB for the last few hours. The wife's in Detroit for a wedding, so it's a bachelor weekend for me.

Going to knock together a pan of Tartiflette rather than watch that pillock Sebastien Tiffert do the build up. Fridge well stocked, 2 lap tops, RLM and Eurosport fired up.
Have a great race everyone. Best of luck to Murphy Prototypes who are my adopted team again this year. ;D Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: mike(liverpool boys) on June 22, 2013, 02:36:34 pm I'm starting to get the James May "fizz" watching the build up :)

Due to some exceptionally poor planning I appear to have got this weekend all arse about face. Currently have access to race updates via the internet but no alcohol, and in a few hours I shall access to alcohol but not the internet. DOH!!! 184 laps in - SC out again. Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Lazy B'stard on June 23, 2013, 03:35:44 am Looks like being a long one. Beer levels getting critical here. Just two left.

Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Boorish Grobian on June 23, 2013, 05:33:38 am 2330 here in the midwest, almost dawn there. Beer holding out, but fed up with the saftey car periods! Are we watching a 24hr NASCAR race? On a nine mile circuit there is no reason whatsoever to bring out the safety car for one stranded car. Over three hours behind the SC at this point. Getting laughable.
Fax Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Boorish Grobian on June 23, 2013, 08:15:04 am Head's going to explode! It just f**k*ng happned again. Full course yellow on for The Aston stranded...off line! Yep, welcome to the NASCAR 24hrs of Lee Maans, Yee Haw
Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Boorish Grobian on June 23, 2013, 08:55:18 am This a prank right? SC period number 85 or 90? Is the armco made of tin in France? WTF? Its not 1973 where people were getting hacked in two by ill-fitted armco, or is it?
This place & race is a f**k*ng joke! Fax Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: John G on June 23, 2013, 10:37:33 am Bugger, now trying to catch up after longer than expected break
Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: Jack the Hat on June 23, 2013, 11:29:59 am First year in 11 I have not been at the race and i am missing the atmosphere so much. The safety car this year has been a disaster what are they playing at ? This had all the making of a great race and is now an orderly procession behind safety cars for four hours and with the chance of more rain and more safety cars.
What a shame...... Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: smokie on June 23, 2013, 03:16:28 pm Well I enjoyed that, from a weather point of view I was quite happy watching it from my lounge!!
Well done again Audi and Tom, I reckon next year their record might disappear. I'd agree that the yellow flags seemed to be too frequent and often too long. Eurosport coverage was good, I know everyone gets the same feed but the presenters did a good job. I enjoyed some of those slow motion sequences they played, like the refuelling hose coming out of the Corvette . Safe journey back to those out there... Title: Re: The home guard thread 2013 Post by: gatordad on June 23, 2013, 05:10:16 pm The 13 annual Breakfast at Le Mans is over for the year. We are in beautiful and sunny Florida and had a great time. I love my "Brethren" shirt and our group had all they could drink and eat. I hope all enjoyed the weekend and the race. We as race fans expect danger but when it comes it's awful. This is the first tragedy since the mid '80s.
