Title: Hi from a first timer in his 40s
Post by: steverobbo on May 19, 2013, 06:50:37 am
Hi,

I'll be going this year for the first ever time and fulfilling a lifelong dream. I've always talked about going for the race but something always seems to have got in the way. This year has been a long time coming.

I'll be travelling with my 13 year old nephew, hoping this will be the first of many for us both. Arriving on the Thursday and leaving on Monday.

Steve.

Better late than never Steve!

I hope you have a great time - as you say - first of many!

Enjoy!

First visit is awesome, you won't be able to do everything, but that always leaves something new to do when you return.

Watch out !
There's something in the water there, you'll be hooked and will come back for many years  ;D.

As Barry said, you probably won't be able to do everything but enjoy every minute of it !  Tip : get up early or try to go through the whole night ... sunrise at Le Mans is magic.

Thanks everyone,

I'm really looking forward to it. I think I've got everything I need, travelling from Calais on the Thursday.

Cheers.

Steve.

Water = You drink the water there??

Welcome to CA and to Le Mans Steve.
This will be my 15th year in total and 10th in a row, but like you, I will be traveling with my 13 year old nephew for his first time this year.

Enjoy the race!

It's spelt Water but you Pronounce it "Bier"  I learnt that on my 16th trip back in 1996.  For sure there is something in it.  I missed 1981 and it hurt like hell.  So haven't dared to miss another since.

Hope both you and your nephew are ready to give up a weekend in June for the foreseesble future!

It can be pretty addictive, go with an open mind, don't expect to do it all (I've never been to the museum in 30 years, got to have a reason to go back!) Don't stress about the noise on the campsite, assuming your camping onsite and kick back and enjoy yourself.

Don't take anything you can't afford to lose.

Every now and again you hear some on comment about the campsite noise, it's simple, if you want uninterrupted sleep from the generators, the Parties on the run up and those dammed cars on Saturday night, take some ear plugs, problem solved, everyone has fun.

Steve,

Are you back this year - did your nephew survive?
