Title: Aycliffe Stadium stock car tribute at Belle Vue this Sunday 14th Oct. Post by: Steve Pyro on October 11, 2012, 05:50:49 pm I know this may appeal to some of you and has a very special place in my heart as Aycliffe Stadium was run by my wife's parents, Ron & Cissie Deane, for a lot of years.
Anyway, as part of this Sunday 14th Oct F1 BriSca stock car meeting at Belle Vue, Manchester, Mrs B has arranged with the promoter to have an Aycliffe stadium tribute race / trophy etc. There is going to be some classic old stock cars and an Aycliffe pit recreation, just like in the 60's / 70's. Racing is from 13:00. Some info here - http://forum.stoxnet.com/topic/25287-unique-twist-to-belle-vue-14th-october/ (http://forum.stoxnet.com/topic/25287-unique-twist-to-belle-vue-14th-october/) See you there? Here's Eileen's dad's car from sometime in the 60's - complete with large American V8. It was a great afternoon's racing - much helped by the Idiot's Guide to stock cars that Eileen gave us - it all became a lot clearer after that! :) BTW - that tune was the theme from The Return of the Saint!! http://www.televisiontunes.com/Return_of_the_Saint.html Title: Re: Aycliffe Stadium stock car tribute at Belle Vue this Sunday 14th Oct. Post by: Chris24 on October 15, 2012, 04:21:50 am As Fran has already said it was a great afternoons racing today at Belle Vue with the sun out all day which makes a nice change as it usually pisses down at Belle Vue meetings which usually just turns the track into a mud pit and then its just a brown car followed by another brown car. So to have a proper track conditions today made for proper fast racing.
Was a pleasure to meet up with Neil, Fran and later in the meeting Steve and Eileen and catch up with you all and have to say I think Neil and Fran didn't quite know what to expect upon arrival, but by the end of the day they had enjoyed their first visit to the sport that I have been enjoying for 38 years and travel the country to watch most weekends. Anyway really glad that i made the effort to get to Belle Vue today after getting in at 2.30 am from the Skegness meeting the day before at the other side of the country. A few pictures from today including the Paul Harrison / Dan Johnson aerial display from another angle. As well the todays final winner. It gave me great pleasure that CSC Photography supported driver Dylan Williams Maynard won his first shale final today to take home Eileens special Aycliffe trophy. Well done "Big Dog / Dildo" |
