Title: Traffic after the Classic
Post by: DelBoy on May 18, 2012, 12:59:28 pm
I'll be heading back from 'somewhere in France' to Le Havre for the 1700 ferry on Monday 9th July, and I have just realised that the Classic is on that weekend.

What is the traffic like heading North on the Sunday/Monday after the Classic??  I realise it will not be as bad as after the 24 hours, but is it significant?

I've only travelled home on the Sunday, but we've never encountered any traffic of any significance. Classic numbers are around a third of that attending the 24hr for starters, and most of those attending take different routes too and from the circuit, so they tend to be spread out instead of all hammering up through Alencon for example. I wouldn't worry about it but you can look forward to seeing some cracking cars on the roads.

Monday afternoon, even using the A11 or A28, you'll be hard put to notice any increase over the normal traffic.

On the other hand, how you can admit to being in France at the same time as the Classic and not be there, beats me   :o

When we travelled back on the monday after the race, it was hardly noticeable.

Fair comment, Chris, but it's a SWISIPS problem.

Might be worse this year, since I heard yesterday that over 125,000 tickets have already been sold. That, of course, ignores the people who pay on the gate, the teams, the press, et al.

We usually leave at about 5 on the Sunday, and even at that time there have been no traffic problems what so ever. Monday shouldn't be any different.

I have a feeling Pig Pen Racing may be at the classic this year....  would my matt pink '90 golf be enough of a traffic issue?
