On that link they say appearing are......
Gérald de Palmas, the Pony Pony Run...
I never in my wildest dreams ever thought that I'd have an opportunity to see them live. It will be like seeing Elvis supported by the Beatles, only better!

.....and from our seats in the Dunlop bridge tribune we will be ideally placed to ignore every last minute! Jeez, and I thought UB40 were a duff choice!  ::)

WTF ????????

It's Euro pop courtesy of the Nurburgring 24 all over again.  I'm sure the local 'kids' will like it  ::)

As usual I have always preferred the 24hr live concert of 52 performers on the track

Well done AC0!

I guess with Pug gone they can't be bothered this year.

IIRC there's a massive monsters of rock concert going on in Nantes on the same night - surely the ACO could shell out a bit of our hard earned cash and helicopter in a few monsters to headline for a few hours!

Shocking choices, but I hear there is a motor race on at the same time, I might try and find that this year.

Or of course they could get rid of the concerts and have the fair back there ::)

Yes bring back the Red Trailer! But WTF, the ACO have really lost the international flavour.

The fun fair has been declining for years and after the death of big bertha, hands up all that remember her, i doubt it will ever be the same. Even in france the h & s people would be up in arms if it return to the type of things i remember from the 80's and ninety's

It was much better when the fair was up that way. All dark and dusty. It's a pain in the ass behind the grandstands. It just clogs the place up.

As for this years bands. Could be worse. Could be The Levellers or UB40.

I'd love to see Super Furry Animals there. That would be cool.

Isn't Pony Cockney rhyming slang for something?

I see also tha the album title for Shaka Ponk's latest album includes the words 'jerkin' socks' - surely that has an affinity with some CAer's?

 ;)

OI!!  The Levellers were Epic at Le-Mans!!

At one point, the power to all the amps went out.  So they cut out all the lights, plugged the amps into the lighting power, and played without any lights..... was brilliant!!

The Levellers and the stranglers have been the best imho. The concert provides a distraction from the racing and generally make our way to see them.

This year may be different.

Its the 80th year ?????????? and the ACO put on Euro poop what are they thinking ??????? Why not have someone for such an occasion like Mr R Waters; or even JK was quality back in 2002 (We were Three rows from the front) . It was great right up until the french fella that had soiled himself ( 2's not 1's ) tried crowd surfing none of us were going to catch him and we all parted like the red sea when he jumped   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D got to be the funniest moment at Le Mans for me.

I feel very fortunate to only be going to the Classic, though the band or what ever it is would give me another reason to stay at my tent...

I was actually missing the French experience so while my wife was in Wales(?) I went for three days to France, just went for a drive around the Brittany countryside... Wicked... especially when you come from a 27sq mile island...

>Martini...LB

Yes, totally off topic...

But why put on a concert. It cost's the ACO money to get the band's in. Why bother, rent the space to dodgy kart tracks, shotgun stalls and dodgy lady stalls. Everyones happy 8)

The only redeeming feature there is the Gibson Thunderbird.

Really?

What I hate most about the Levellers (apart from the crap music, dogs on string, lack of basic hygiene etc) is they are constantly banging on about how they hate the corporate world, people in cars and consumerist culture, yet they are quite happy to play at an event that has cars a plenty, corporations a plenty and lots of little consumers throwing litter everywhere. That makes them a bunch of hypocritical whores in my book.

Hopefully someone is trying to build a bypass down south somewhere and they are all currently chained to trees eating mung beans for the next decade.

w**k*rs.

I have had the lesser known groups play at my pub over the last two years. Ekho would be the best out of the crop of local bands, singing pop rock in English, quite good, filled the place. The Dandies have also played at the Union Jack and have been good, also filled the concert room. And Thom, a soloist with an interesting play style. Not quite the same level as JK, levellers or the stranglers, but alright all the same. Just don't quote me on that too much if they are all crap!! ;D

Reading the blurb on the Le Mans Iphoney App it says......

Wednesday and Thursday evenings during practice sessions, then on Saturday night during the event, three major outdoor concerts will be held including artists such as: Julian Peretta, Razorlight, BB King, UB 40, Status Quo, Raphael ...

Something lost in translation? I'm sure some of them have been there before?

Ready salted Walkers crisps with a pickled egg in the top of the packet - if you really want to mystify the French - really do they think we only eat Roast Beef??

It's just called Le Mans.org. It's a free App from the ITunes thingy. Also useful is the Le Mans town map App. It works offline so no roaming charges once abroad. Very detailed map with everything you need on there.
