Title: Silverstone Classic anyone?
Post by: Mr. Rick on July 15, 2011, 12:30:59 pm
Ladies, Gentlemen and Zarses....

75% of Team FCEK are planning a surprise last minute raid on the Classic in just over a week. Aiming to be there Sat/Sun and camp, with a little 10cc thrown in for good measure. Any advices/experiences on the tented side of things? Never camped at Slitherstone before!

Any other attendees?

Rick  ;D

Given the price of tickets I decided been there once, that seen it done it.

There is usually a lot of cheap camping offered. We stayed at Lichlake Camping just across the road when we first and last did it.

Silverstone now has its own campsite but you should be alright turning up on the day.

We are thinking of going on friday or saturday enroute to a weeks holiday in Cernwall. It depends on the weather and the kid's fettle.

Is there any TV coverage this year?

Si

Thanks Vegas, and know what you mean about the inflated ticket prices .. outrageous! Thankfully I get press access so the 3 of us are splitting the cost of 2 tickets to make it more bearable! The "advance" ticket prices are a joke too because once you've added the Ryanair style "booking fee" it works out nearly the same as if you turn up on the day .. this is no incentive just in case, say, one of you drops out etc!

Definitely Litchfield camping for us. Silverstones own is nearly 4 times the price! Not a fan of Silverstone and it's aggressive fleecing policy .. grrrr!

As for TV coverage Si, think Motors has covered it in recent years but not check this time around.....

On my way Rick. Did the full weekend last year but it may only be either Sat or Sun this year. Litchlake it is then!

Most fabulous news your Lordship! Attendees apart from myself are Mikey and Mike (all the way from Madrid!). We're actually wondering if there is a campsite closer to Silverstone village itself, i.e. staggering distance from a pub!

Aiming to arrive late morning on the Sat. I've blagged a photo pass but only really shooting the F1 Masters, Group C and World Sportscar Masters. Intending to catch 10cc too!

See you there then old chap. Assume you still have my mobilly number?

Arriving Thursday night and staying on Litchlake.

Capri280 and TR6 confirmed. The Quattro Turbo is still on the ramp but should make it, the Stag gave up yesterday (Crank we think) and the Scirocco is a 30/70 chance.
Add in an MX-5 and we should be easy to spot

Text duly received and understood old chap. Hoping to stay Sat night for the Wishbone Ash moment as well. I'll give you a call when plans are nearer to completion and arrange a rendezvous.
