Sounds good, at least they did not head back into the F1 world ::) hang on - Jaguar is own by the same company who owns - same pit crew ;) (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IPyXprBn9WU/TNpBsno3PxI/AAAAAAAAGgk/NWzgFQ3axz4/s1600/tetleyteafolk.jpg) Title: Re: Jaguar planning Le Mans return with LMP1 car Post by: Nordic on July 14, 2011, 06:26:08 pm Pretty vague, wants to return but gives no time frame.
Porsche have given a date of 2014, as one has to assume Porsche know what they are doing and have a car drawn up etc, I would not get any hopes up of seeing a Jag at Le Mans until 2014 at the earliest and that's assuming they are sandbagging an its already been drawn up. Don't no why it takes so long, Prodrive did it in 6 days..............oh. Title: Re: Jaguar planning Le Mans return with LMP1 car Post by: Lazy B'stard on July 15, 2011, 01:09:06 pm It is a little vague. Just a name really, not the true British Jag, rather than a Ford cast off backed by a company in the far East (mmmm sounds familiar). No Tom Walkinshaw racing either.
Who next? SAAB? Imagine.... Press release 31/11/2012 SAAB is to make a return to Le Mans with a full LMP1 programe. 54 year old Dave Simpson from Colchester who swapped the ownership of the troubled Swedish car maker for a packet of strawberry Chewits last year has announced that SAAB are to return to the scene of their finest hour with an all new prototype. 'We are just at the planning stage but we spent a good hour in the pub last thursday talking about it. It all depends on wether we can find enough parts down the tip and a radical performance break from the ACO. My brother in law steve will head up the design team as he did a cracking job converting a transit van into a camper last summer. No timeline has been set as there are a few good things on telly at the moment, and it will soon be winter." Industry experts have mixed views on this exciting news. One expert did offer " At last, a proper british effort that we can all get behind after the farce that was Aston Martin's botched effort" The team are hoping to complete several cars which will be sold to investors in advance which will guarantee a large hospitality area at Le Sarthe if not a result. The engine is believed to be a turbocharged straight six 2 stroke delivering 600 pretend horsepower. The styling will follow the trend to make the car look as ugly as possible and sponsorship is unlikely to be from Ikea who are supplying the seating. If you would like to help out with this project, please send me a cheque for ten grand made payable to 'Another rubbish car aiming to do 2 laps at Le Mans' to the usual address. Does it Lord Steve? >:( >:( >:( Title: Re: Jaguar planning Le Mans return with LMP1 car Post by: Lord Steve on July 16, 2011, 08:43:03 am No
Title: Re: Jaguar planning Le Mans return with LMP1 car Post by: Mr. Rick on July 16, 2011, 01:10:57 pm In the interest of moving this forward, I kindly offer my recently acquired 10 year old Saab 93 convertible as the basis for an open-topped LMP1 contender. Powered by a 2 litre turbo, not dissimilar in spec to the woeful new Aston Martin powerplant, it would be an ideal starting point .. don't you think?
