Title: Silverstone Post by: Lord Steve on June 18, 2011, 11:18:05 am Two events just put in the diary:
Silverstone Classic, 22 - 24 July Le Mans Series 1,000km 9 - 11 September Who's coming? Woodlands campsite at Silverstone is £30 for both events but Whittlebury Park is now £42. Looks like Whittlebury is getting a bit greedy for the sloping camsite and long trek to the circuit! I'll give it a miss I think. Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: wishy on June 18, 2011, 12:07:22 pm We are going to the 1000k's.....subject to the weather!!!!
Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: tn*c on June 18, 2011, 12:41:34 pm Be aware that is £30 per person for camping! I am working something else out at the moment.
Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: Lazy B'stard on June 18, 2011, 02:10:06 pm We are going to the Friday of the Silverstone Classic. Its a convenient stop off enroute to Cernwaaaall. Won't be staying over though as we are going to stop overnight in Bath.
Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: landman on June 18, 2011, 03:39:19 pm Deffo on for the 1,000 k.
Need to speak to Whittlebury as they're doing £10 for camping the night before Ford Fair this year. Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: tn*c on June 18, 2011, 04:16:36 pm Deffo on for the 1,000 k. Need to speak to Whittlebury as they're doing £10 for camping the night before Ford Fair this year. Dont book anything yet, I may have an answer better and cheaper than the track camping. Should have an answer next week. (Basically still trackside but cheaper). Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: alibongo on June 18, 2011, 05:04:56 pm After missing L/M this year Silverstone will defo be in my diary, whats the camping situation for the 24hrs of Spa?
Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: wishy on June 18, 2011, 06:12:36 pm There are no dedicated campsites at Spa.....you just camp in one of the car parks.
For the 100k's in May we camped woth the DfH guys in car park 3,which is close to the toilets, showers, paddock and is only about 10mins walk from Eau Rouge. When pitching tent your will have to cope with the alpine slopes........ ;D Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: alibongo on June 18, 2011, 06:20:55 pm So I could park the motorhome in the Eau Rouge carpark for the w/e, when do you have to arrive to be able to park bud?
Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: slash on June 18, 2011, 10:18:21 pm We will be at the 1000k, staying on the Silverstone campsite. We stayed there last year, might be a bit pricey but the facillities are first rate, the showers are better than I have at home !
Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: wishy on June 18, 2011, 10:27:52 pm Alibongo,
Below carpark 3 there is a large flat area of tarmac by the toilets and showers, just outside the paddock area. Try e-mailing the circuit and ask if you can park there. I found them pretty helpful. Any suggestions for a good hotel around the track ? Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: tn*c on June 19, 2011, 12:18:46 pm OK - Where are we all going to Camp.
Silverstone Track Camping? Actually on the back straight by Stowe, Not far from the new pits but where will the village etc be? Showers Toilets, Food Outlets and a Shop by the looks of things. They will issue braclets to campers to increase security. Appears as though cars can be with tents but motorbikes must stay in a locked compound. Retrieval with official documents! Campsite Map here: http://www.silverstone.co.uk/Templates/Public/pdfs/campsite-map.pdf (http://www.silverstone.co.uk/Templates/Public/pdfs/campsite-map.pdf) Cost £30 Per Person! Whittlebury Hall Very sloping and a bit of a walk to the old start finish straight, Where bars entertainment used to be. Long muddy walk to the track. Cost £45 per car. Tickets SpeedChills are selling the Weekend Ticket for £20 e-ticket to collect from Circuit office on the day of arrival. £9 + Booking fee cheaper then the circuit. No other campsites will be operating at the request of Silverstone and LMS. Not going to the 1000k's, we'll do the LMS/ILMC Silverstone 6 hours instead.... Plus we've paid for our tickets for the Britcar 24hrs using one of their offers. Title: Re: Silverstone Post by: LangTall on June 20, 2011, 10:51:20 am ...Not going to the 1000k's, we'll do the LMS/ILMC Silverstone 6 hours instead....
