Title: Lotus Post by: Nordic on June 15, 2011, 09:01:59 am After the shambles that was the Prodrive car (I wont call it an Aston anymore) and the rocketsports XK last year it was good to see another British marque make a slightly better return.
The Lotus was not the fastest thing on the track, but it looked good and 50% of them made the finish. Well done! Title: Re: Lotus Post by: landman on June 15, 2011, 09:31:05 am Hear hear!
I listened to the GTE class run down on RLM's podcast on the Sunday before departure. Hindy & the team were right in suggesting that Lotus 'turn the boost down' a bit to inject maximum reliability rather than speed. Not sure why the 64 car failed, but it was good to see another British car make it across the line at 3pm, and it wasn't in last place! Title: Re: Lotus Post by: Lazy B'stard on June 15, 2011, 10:58:06 am Yes, well done to Lotus.
They started on that car around the same time as Faildrive and probably work with a tighter level of budget. I guess the difference is that Lotus want to go racing and succeed and Prodrive just want to sell cars and hang out with Tarquin and Miles and get into Hello magazine. If only Prodrive hand spent some of the budget on the car rather than impressing Lady Tara Palmer Horseteeth with lavish hospitality they might have also got a car to the finish. If they'd have ditched the stupid straight 6 and replaced it with Bugsy Malone type pedals it would have been a better car let alone anything else. What on earth are they thinking there? Title: Re: Lotus Post by: wishy on June 15, 2011, 05:12:55 pm On the matter of the Aston.........
We had a visitor to our encampment on Friday...sorry forgot his name, but he flew in to LM to deliver some carbon fibre parts for AMR and was telling us that the Arab sponsors behind AMR have pulled the financial plug.....So AMR were running the operation on a shoestring.Even the buyer was roped in to be pit crew!!! :'( Title: Re: Lotus Post by: landman on June 15, 2011, 05:16:46 pm Might have something to do with this: -

Title: Re: Lotus Post by: Barry on June 16, 2011, 01:14:35 am Well done the Lotus team for a great first apperance.
Showed how it should be done with a very unproved car. Poodrive please note. Look forward to their return next year with the experience they have gained this year. Title: Re: Lotus Post by: Peaky on June 19, 2011, 10:39:26 pm nice gold bits on the engine as well ;D
