Great job once again Werner, I wish it was published when I made my first trip to LM, it would have made life a lot easier.

Werner - Ditto to what Barry has said, and when I read it, I'm still learning.
As they say on Waynes World - "We're not worthy!!!"
p.s.- sitting here, reading the guide - oh boy am I getting excited :D
-
Thanks Werner.
Great guide, as ever. Donation made.
-
Congratulations on the publication Werner as Neils say's "We're not worthy"

I haven't opened it yet but know it will be superb. Worth reminding those new to the subject that this is a labour of love and has taken many hundreds of man hours to compile over the years. The detail, quality of writing and information is second to none.
As such, please, where possible do the right thing and make a donation. Good karma is at stake here chaps and chapesses.

True " Le Mans " Heritage, a great piece of work.

Great guide guys!
Just one thing I would like to add about the bars, as I am the landlord of a bar in Le Mans:
Rey Gins Bar no longer exists
The Mini Bar no longer exists
The Pub Crawl is gay friendly, a lot!
And we have a new bar the UNION JACK, a british bar run by British, with a 24 hour theme. In fact, my brother raced 3 times in the 24 hours and we have trophy's of his and photos of the cars of the 2008 race on the bar. Find us in Rue du Docteur Leroy, just off the place de la Republique, the pub with the huge British flag on the wall!
Just thought it was worth a mention. Sorry I didn't contact you earlier!

Hi there,
thanks for the corrections about the bars - will be fixed in next years guide.
Hope I can pay you a visit in your bar

Hi Werner
Im just wondering if i am the only one, who have som minor problems with the CA Guide this year.
The problems are that there is severel blank pages in the pdf file i download, the first is the table of contents,
Best regards
Jannik
-
Correct. After spending ages to work out how to find the 2011 guide (using Firefox) it wouldn't appear but after searching using internet explorer I found it. Although there are still blank pages unfortunately? Nevermind! Days to go...
;D

My copy downloaded fine in Firefox.
Guy Smith has been tweeting about the Michelin Guide to Le Mans. (http://www.michelin.co.uk/lemansguide) Personally refuse to give all that info to register and get a copy (and not be able to opt out of their junk mail schemes) so have no idea whether it is worth reading. But aimed him at the CA guide.

Sadly, mine has the same affliction - I tried in both FF and IE. Will try in the office tomorrow to see if my connection but not a happy pdf file tonight .... :(
-
Hi all,
no idea what could be wrong - the copy I have compiled looks fine on my computer - and I can print it without problems. If anyone has an idea?
May be the problem is the Adobe Acrobat Reader Version: You need at least version 7, (current one is version 10) ?
Just in case the file got corrupted on the server, I'll upload it again tonight.
If anyone has an idea, please tell me.
-
Hi
I have tried with Chrome, Ie and Firefox, all with the same result, and my adobe is the latest version.
My Adobe says there is a failure in the file and i shall contact the creator of the pdf file
-
It's fine for me, using chrome.
-
Hi,
I've downloaded it twice and tried reading it with Acrobat Pro 9.4.4, Foxit 4.1 Reader, Nitro PDF Reader and Nuance PDF Reader and they all show the same blank pages. I even tried repairing it with Advanced PDF Repair (without success).
If Werner can confirm when he has re-uploaded the file, I will try again!
-
Just downloaded again (started 00:05) got exact same file, no problem reading.
Can read in linux with Okular 0.10.4 & GIMP 2.6.8, also in Android QuickOffice 3.3.74. Also printed at work from Acrobat (unknown version).
Can only presume you folk are getting corrupt downloads, file size should be 18,413,124 bytes
[UPDATE]
Actually there does seem to be something odd - although both my downloads have the same file size they are NOT identical!

Have just downloaded the new version and there is still som blank pages, starting from page 8
and some pages where the text is looking wierd (page 64 - 69)
-
Tried again in the office - better (poss because of bigger pipe to download through?), but still not right. Something in the formatting just is not happy and I get blank pages and missing/bad formatted pics, however, most of it is perfectly readable and all the important stuff is there - well done again Werner, the guide content just gets better every year.
-
Similar problems here.. - Using newest versions of Adobe Reader:

Werner - the first version I downloaded on 1 June, md5sum 72dc1fbc6b5bbd8d1813f2ccb669985c has no issues anywhere I have taken it.
The version I downloaded 8 hours ago, md5sum 79531744fae9309e990d7335193e5b87 has the same file size but same problems described above - pages 8, 10 etc blank, pages 64, 96 etc corrupt.

Okay guys,
I've fiddled around with the PDF settings and uploaded a new file now, it's even smaller. For those who had problems:
Please try again. I need your feedback because I never had the problems you encountered.
I tried with various Browser / OS / Acrobat Reader versions on my 3 PCs and it all worked
Hope it's okay for everyone now
-

Works perfectly !! Thanks for your continued help Werner. Ensure you pop over to us on MB for a beer - we have a new luminous flagpole this year so should hopefully be easy to spot ... ;-)

I've just put another version on the server - for those who have still probs please try again. It's all flying blindfolded for me because I cannot reproduce your problems. Hope it's better now.
If anyone needs a single page please mail your request to president@lemanszone.de I can then sent out a doc-file (Word 2003/2007)
-
My download was good. Thanks Werner.

Hi Werner,
This latest version has lost p3 and p5 on my system but is fine elsewhere, so I have put together a PDF using the first 8 pages of the previous one and the rest using the latest one - would you like me to email you a copy of this (using the address above)? I can also hyperlink the table of contents which would be quite nice (not sure why the links don't appear automatically if you generate the contents within Word - are you doing this or making it up by hand?).
BTW, the content is terrific ;D
If anyone wants the Michelin guide without filling their rather intrusive form, here they are:
Online:

Landscape format PDF (better to view on monitor) 6691KB:
http://www.michelinonline.co.uk/lemans-emag/pdf/LeMans_Guide_ebook-HR.pdf (http://www.michelinonline.co.uk/lemans-emag/pdf/LeMans_Guide_ebook-HR.pdf)
Normal portrait format 2999KB:
http://www.michelinonline.co.uk/lemans-emag/pdf/LeMans_Guide_ebook-LR.PDF (http://www.michelinonline.co.uk/lemans-emag/pdf/LeMans_Guide_ebook-LR.PDF)
Nowhere near as comprehensive as the CA guide of course, but some nice pictures and nicely produced.
-
hi thorhammer,
yes, please mail me a copy to president@lemanszone.de - with hyperlinks would be nice.
Cheers

Hi Werner,
It's on its way to you - let's hope no more issues arise with this version!
-
Downloaded the latest version and when viewed with Acrobat X pro I get a blank page (3) and the message "an error exists on this page Acrobat may not display this page correctly. Please contact the person who created the pdf to correct the problem."
Hope this helps.

Or as accurate - their P1 Astons still have V12 engines etc.
-
Lets be fair, the Michelin guide is the dog poo embedded in the well heeled shoe that is the CA guide. It seems like they have lifted the Wikipedia content for 'Le Mans' and added some photos taken on their mates (rubbish) camera phone. To top it off they then spend many pages with blurb from their own Michelin website telling me how long it takes to make tyre.
CA I salute you, Michelin, I fart in your general direction
-
Hi all,
I just stumbled across this: http://spotterguides.com/le-mans-2011-guide
IMHO well worth printing out and take it to the track - a very good supplement to our CA Guide.
Nice weekend everybody - and safe journey to La Sarthe
-
Werner - thank you - a great effort and job as usual - look forward to seeing you there.
