Title: Souvenirs, shirts, hats, etc Post by: SuperMacGuy on May 11, 2011, 12:07:51 am It will be my first Le Mans (in person) ever this year! ;D
I am wondering what sort of souvenirs and team gear there is to purchase at the track? I've been to many ALMS and Champ Car/Indy races and there are always at least 10 vendors selling official merchandise, or team trailers with merchandise, and the smaller mom-n-pop tents selling the more unusual, often vintage racing, shirts and such. So, at Le Mans, how does it compare? More stands or less stands? More or less variety? This might be my only trip to Europe for several years, so I want to make sure I plan to get things that won't be able to buy ever again. Thanks all! (Also a few top of the range designer shops selling watches n other fancy stuff - well into credit card territory and I havent ventured into those). The official ACO shop is probably where you will find the goods you wouldnt find at any other track (as far as I am aware) - they have some good merchandise and not all of it very expensive! Different choices, yes, but the same number of stalls etc. Often you will find one selling lots of smaller teams' gear. The ACO shop only sells official merchandise, no team stuff really.
http://boutique.lemans.org/ The cheaper stuff is mainly behind the start line grandstands - the more expensive places are in the village . There's also loads of F1 c**p about for reasons which I never quite understand. I haven't bought anything for about 4 years Title: Re: Souvenirs, shirts, hats, etc Post by: geoffd on May 12, 2011, 09:19:53 am The one place I'm sure we will all agree is worth a visit is Uli Ehret and his Racing Legends water colours, in the village as usual again this year. http://www.ulis-racing-legends.de (http://www.ulis-racing-legends.de) Title: Re: Souvenirs, shirts, hats, etc Post by: gt6 on May 12, 2011, 09:31:41 am there are plenty of stall all around the circuit but behind the main grandstand are numerous retailers both in the units beneath the stands and in temporary places on the other side, you can get just about anything there, last years or older stuff is relatively cheap but the ACO stipulates the price of current shirts etc so they can seem expensive
