Is there a set time for the coverage similar to last year? Thx, Paul. Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: nopanic - neil on January 02, 2011, 07:25:19 pm Neil, Is there a set time for the coverage similar to last year? Thx, Paul. Times, from what I can find British Eurosport 19.15 - Dakar rally 22.00 - Dakar rally both programs 30 min (too short) and bet they are both the same. Anyone know if you can see more TV coverage on the web anywhere? Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: Canada Phil on January 02, 2011, 07:50:25 pm Thanks for the heads up Neil. I will search for web coverage as i doubt North American TV will carry anything.
Happy New Year Phil Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: Lorry on January 02, 2011, 07:55:34 pm Thanks. I'd completely forgotten

I don't know if you guys get Versus in the Great White North or not. http://www.versus.com/shows/dakar-rally/ Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: Canada Phil on January 04, 2011, 09:15:24 am Thanks for the heads up Neil. Boo Hoo Phil Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: LuxExpat on January 04, 2011, 11:00:25 am I watched the highlights shown on (German) Eurosport last night and found the background music really annoying. Do they have the same 'muzak' on British Eurosport?
And a 30 minute show is too short! Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: goodduck on January 05, 2011, 01:13:10 am And a 30 minute show is too short! i feel the same way. these guys race all day and they only have enough clips for a 30 min show? they showed a touareg banged up but no footage of the wreck? i guess its hard to cover this thing but it seems weak. Same last year, wish they would show more. I mean there is enough helicopters doing the rounds. Also want more truck coverage not the 2min they show. Mind you there is a nice orange car out there ;D Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: Canada Phil on January 05, 2011, 05:05:26 am Same last year, wish they would show more. Have only been able to a short clips off youtube so far. The only Girl i found in the entry list is 173 in the bike class. Leslie Morgan a Welsh lass. Phil Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: Steve Pyro on January 05, 2011, 10:16:44 am Yes there are a lot of helicopters. But they're not only for TV. The TV helicopters tend to follow the front runners of the car and bike classes (the heavily sponsored stars) so the poor old privateers and trucks sometimes loose out on coverage.
Also, the trucks run after the cars / bikes, so the TV action then is focused on the bivouac. 30 minutes highlights and 30 minutes live per day (on Eurosport) isn't really enough - it was scheduled after 22:00 last night for some weird cross country skiing FFS. Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: knetter on January 05, 2011, 11:48:11 am We get two updates a day on Dutch TV, which is quit good, highlights of the whole stage, cars, bikes and trucks seperately and then there is of course a lot information on the Dutch participants!
Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: Paddy_NL on January 05, 2011, 04:34:31 pm Sorry Knetter, but I think the Dutch coverage is rubbish - despite them having their own crew down there. Too many advertisements, too much Dutch-orientated coverage. And still I have only seen Jan Lammers for a split second so far. Obvious to me this is all about sponsors deciding what to broadcast, just like at Le Mans with Team Merksteijn a few years ago - which Spyker?! :-\
Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: Jules G on January 05, 2011, 06:05:36 pm Well, there was a camera shot of Tom Cornell on Eurosport last night abite for a few seconds looking at his broken buggy :'(
Shame the de Rooys are already out, look like the Kamze team have the trucks the class won already! I hope the snooker which starts at the weekend does not start to over run the scheduled programs on Eurosport >:( Phil, The welsh girl took a bit of a tumble yesterday and was very late in to overnight service not had the chance to look at the web until now. Title: Re: Dakar time Post by: knetter on January 06, 2011, 10:21:14 am Paddy, you could also have a look at the belgium coverage, less commercials and not Dutch orientated. However, you have to like Koen Wauters! ;D
