Title: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: SpriteII on June 15, 2010, 09:34:17 am OK, after a break of 5 or 6 years we are definitely going next year.
Could someone bring me up to speed on how to get tickets these days. We won't need camping but Parking Blanc and ACO grandstand (or similar). And on that subject, your thoughts on the merits of various grandstands please. Cheers Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: garyfrogeye on June 15, 2010, 01:47:23 pm Hi Jeremy,
Next year Midget50 is almost certainly on the same weekend. However if you do decide to go to Le Mans, I can't help with the info on tickets but can advise (as far as Toby and I are concened) that the Tribune tickets weren't worth the money. Yes you get a seat at the begining and the end of the race when the place is most crowded but you do have the feeling of being torn between wandering around the place as free as a bird or feeling that you really should use the ticket that you've paid 90 ish Euros for a(n uncomfortable) seat next to a large grumpy French person. We were in tribune 16 (Somer) opposite the end of the pits and the large screen but in hindsight I would rather have been at our usual place at the begining of the mulsanne watching the cars come around at race speeds on cold tyres and using the money that we saved to hire the Kangaroo TV instead. How to get tickets page 96 on this years CA Guide. (http://www.clubarnage.com/caguide/) Have never had grandstand tickets myself - far prefer rambling around some favourite haunts at favourite times, and discovering some new places to watch etc. Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: Barry on June 15, 2010, 08:46:43 pm Amazingly ACO have already announced 2011 dates - 11/12 June. Jo will be pleased, I'll be home for my wedding anniversary for the first time in 8 years. Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: Gordonwr on June 15, 2010, 08:56:51 pm My request to marshal next year has already gone in, although next years race will be a big let down after this one. For those that saw it that is, I suspect that for most it will be an even better piss up !!!

Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: dukla on June 16, 2010, 11:25:55 am Allegedly ticket sales for 2011 will start on 4 October 2010 on ACO website. (http://www.lemans.org) Wondering if ACO are likely to have a working/predictable system at last? Did anyone (termie?) submit last week and get any new response?
Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: landman on June 16, 2010, 11:26:47 am We bought tickets for Wolleck - Tribune 22.
Upside: It's cheap. Just €63/seat. Downside: There's no roof. However that also has a benefit in that only 3 of us had tickets. So once we were in we dropped the pass down to the 4th man, who then got in! There were plenty of empty seats. If you are in the lower numbered seats you cannot see down the track due to the big screen, but some might argue that this is a big plus point. If you get the lower letters [A, B, C, D] and higher numbers then you'll be ok. Would I have bought a g'stand seat if this year's weren't so cheap [actually paid €160 for 3]? No. HTH Paul. Did anyone ever manage to get anything other than BSJ on the online system? I checked every day from opening for about a month and all the others were "Sold Out" - I don't believe the ACO even sell any of the 'preferred' campsites directly no other than to a very few (lucky/priviliged etc.) people. where exactly can I find that 2011 June race date and the Oct. ticket sale start date on the ACO web site? Cheers Werner Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: Stu on June 16, 2010, 02:05:00 pm Hi guys, where exactly can I find that 2011 June race date and the Oct. ticket sale start date on the ACO web site? Cheers Werner It was on the Eurosport highlights. 11th and 12th June 2011 and its on Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans) And to confirm it, its actually on the new regs page at the bottom http://www.lemans.org/en/news/2011-LE-MANS-24-HOURS-REGULATIONS_628.html (http://www.lemans.org/en/news/2011-LE-MANS-24-HOURS-REGULATIONS_628.html) Note also the return of an earlier test day for Termie to provide us with some photies. Can't find the October ticket sales yet. Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: Werner on June 16, 2010, 02:17:29 pm Hi Stu,
thanks a lot Enough evidence to lock this week in the 2011 calendar! ;D Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: dukla on June 16, 2010, 02:18:13 pm Quote from: JDS I checked every day from opening for about a month and all the others were "Sold Out" Do you recall when the web system sprung into life for this year's race? I thought it was Feb/March time? Which is why I figure October 2010 for 2011 race means it may be a workable system?... and the Oct. ticket sale start date on the ACO web site? Not sure if it is on their website - I found this on the brochure thing that was available at the gates this year.(http://www.dukla.net/LM%20tickets.jpeg) edited to add picture Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: pedersenkorsager on June 16, 2010, 05:26:18 pm nice with an early date. Asked at the ACO when and where to go to buy camping with my membership and they told me to look on the webpage mid september, so date in the calender an hollyday booked.
Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: Christopher on June 17, 2010, 08:28:53 am not an expert on this, BUT, dates need to be ratified by the FiA? I'm sure they will, though this is usually done at the end of the year or thereabouts? In the past that has certainly been the case. I wonder though that this year (for next year), because of the significant rule changes the ACO has got an early agreement with the FiA to give potential entrants enough lead time to develop their cars, plus with new leadership at the FiA maybe the stance and co-operation between the ACO and FiA has changed slightly. Also, did I not see footage or hear of Jean Todt being present at some point over the weekend? Hence the usual announcement much later on in the year. Of course this now buggers up the hope of 'cheaper' crossing as normally we can take an educated guess and prebook before the ferry companies offer their preferrential rates for race week. Oh well, lets up my disability living allowance goes up in line with ferry and French of cost of living... ;D Is that you hinting at making the trip next year FS??? ;D Title: Re: Right, 2011 for sure Post by: Christopher on June 17, 2010, 10:41:58 am not an expert on this, BUT, dates need to be ratified by the FiA? Although the 24hrs is not an FiA event, the LM Bugatti circuit is and the ACO do run FiA events, so they have to be civil to eachother. Plus the GT regs in recent years have become aligned between the ACO and FiA, so there is a subtle common ground emerging. |
