I've got my fingers crossed it's going to be on the Eurosport player tonight as I've paid my nearly four quid for that.   I'm away from home until the weekend so no proper Eurosport until Saturday.

Looking forward to RML/Eurosport player and a beer  ;D

I think Eurosports cameras are recording it on a  HD stream so in normal resolution it is not as defined.
When i swapped channels from Eurosport 2 to HD for the 24 minutes programme the graphics were crystal clear.

Eurosport Player online, £3.99 per month, with no minimum contract, you can cancel when you want.   They are showing tonight's quali and last year they showed each of the segments over the weekend but you may have to switch between the Eurosport1 and 2 feed on the player as you would on the TV.

Hey Pigles, welcome back, I am sure I have not seen your posts in ages.

I flew from Guernsey to the Isle of Man today on a corporate do, it rained most of the day! Hope the weather turns out better for those at LM. Just got back home and the sun is shining!!! Perhaps the IOM TT should be in Guernsey, though the lap would be shorter as it is only about 25 miles around the island.

Good to see you back, regards to KK.

Hi Martin, it's nice to be here, I haven't been around for a while, it all go a bit tedious so it was time for a break!

By the sounds of things our weather is a bit better than LM, fingers crossed for good weather for this weekend, the guys have got to be due a dry race!

IOM TT sounds fun, we watched some footage last week - it's scary stuff, those guys are seriously nuts!

Could not agree with you more,  I came close to giving it a BIG rest as it was pretty much all about 2-3 people.

Not sure if they were not told to take it easy instead of taking over the forum...

Are you going to the Classic?

Ah good, not just me then, I thought I'd become more intolerant in my old age!!

We're not going to the Classic, I'm gutted, it clashes with the BGP and I have a role there so can't make the Classic  :(

Looks like the Pugs may have a little more power allowed by the French ACO rules than the Audi given the 4 second better qualifying times today.  I can't believe 4 seconds is purely a superior driver effort.  There has to be something else.  Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Hi Doris!

Can you get onto Europsport Player on the UK site or does it block you?    They'll probably be some mirror sites around with streamed coverage over the weekend...

Title: Re: For those of us stuck at home.....
Post by: smokie on June 10, 2010, 08:12:36 am
Last year I was in the States during Le Mans (yes, missing it is becoming a habit!) and I watched a lot of the race live on dodgy sites - I don't recall where I found the original feed, but it would be closed down every so often and we'd all trundle off to a new site. They had a chat window and I met one or two people I knew from Sebring in the same chat room!

Seems like Audi could be concentrating more on a steady race pace and letting the Pugs go flat out in the hope they break. McNish seemid a bit p*ssed off after quali last night but theres no way theres a full 4 seconds difference in Audi's pace from the Pugs.

Tonight will probably be closer, especially if it rains but saturday and sunday will be the real test of just how fast the frenchies really are. Pole is just bragging rights in a 24 hour race  ;)

Title: Re: For those of us stuck at home.....
Post by: Piglet on June 10, 2010, 08:36:46 am
Hmm....I've got a nasty feeling that despite Audi's "we're working on race pace, really we are" comments, the Pugs are just stonkingly quick and are disappearing into the distance.    Of course Peugeot have to get the cars to the end and 24 hours (plus quali before hand) is a long time...

Is it me or are the pugs louder this year?

I am very aware that the internet may be my friend this weekend and I'll certainly be listening to RLM when I can.  However... and there is no nice way to put this, the broadband where I live is utter crap!  It takes half an hour to download a 4 minute youtube video so I hold very little hope for live streaming.  That won't stop me trying of course.   ;)

The 12 hour time difference will make my chances of catching the start or the finish slim.   :(  But, on the plus side I'll be right up to date with all the 'overnight' action.   :)

Oh, and let's not mention the exam I have at 9am Monday morning which I will be studying for this weekend rather than surfing the net trying to find sites showing the race.   ::) ::) ::)

I am currently living in hope that one of the kind CA soles who said they were recording it will be able to send me a copy.  If that happens I shall pick a weekend after exams, lock myself in my room (too cold to camp in the garden), and watch the whole thing from end to end.   ;D

Dx

PS: Anita - it's great to see you back on here.  You've been missed.

Oh well, Classic to look forward to in a few weeks. Shame Piglet won't be there though as it's always nice to get visitors.

Hosting my 7th annual "Breakfast at Le Mans" at my home Saturday morning in Florida.  We have the whole group from Sebring and Road Atlanta there for wine, croissants, cheese and more wine.  Its just like the old Breakfast at Wimbledon but quite different.  We have much more fun and drink a whole lot more.

Not the same as being there but my 60" HD TV using the Speed channel comes close.

Round to the Shads, small paddling pool (no convertable VW or Tiger!), champers, Chinon and 1664, and eurosport volume up to 11, may even hear the Audis'

Good luck Doris with the crap broadband (and exam).

I'd take screen shot if...

A: I knew how
and
B: The resulting shot could then be published on here (trust me when I say it can't)

then I would.

As it is seems though that I am the only person who can see this 'adult entertainment' I'm thinking the boys at Magners have been putting something other than alcohol in their cider.

Jack will however back me up when I say the English version of the ACO site was hacked for a short time.

Well that's one race we won't forget in a long time. Exhausting, facinating and sometimes just plain weird!
Sadly the last hour got to me. Seeing Quesinel, De Chaunac and the Dr Ulrich break down in tears was too much formy sensitive soul and had me in floods of tears. Then the Aston.......

Even at the top you should never underestimate just how passionate these people are for that race. I doff my cap to each and every one of them.

, am I right in thinking that a distance record has been set this year?

Yes.

It was fab...and next year, we'll be back  ;D  (I hope...)

The distance record was from 1971 and had stood at 392 laps (of that track - 5 thousand and something km's).  I think the leaders did 397 laps worth of km's this year.

Eurosport were wittering about breaking the record from 2009, this isn't the proper distance record they did less km's in 2009 than in 1971 but 2009 is the record for THIS configuration of track and that stood at 382 laps.   So lots of record breaking this year!
