Title: Scaffolding
Post by: nickliv on May 18, 2010, 06:00:42 pm
Would it be legal to 'double deck' a camping pitch? A mate of mine has a load of scaffolding, and he's considering using it next year. To be honest he's got enough to 'triple deck' a pitch, and throw a tarp over it

WOuld the ACO take a dim view of this

I foresee a very interesting argument with the camp site stewards.

I've seen it done a few times on MB against the track without any apparent hassle but a three storey erection (oo er missus) may attract the attention of the stewards. Come to think of it Le Mans City Council might want you to apply for planning permission!!

Someone did this on MB a few years back if I remember (or may just the beer) they had full decking seating up there. The best when they hoisted up their meal, dining in style.

any body else remember, or shall I just go a have another drink?

The way I read the first post was to provide accommodation space on 2 floors, not grandstand seats.

2008 on MB tracksite was no problem.

But that year a big scaffolding inside the campsite ( in between other tents and cars ) had to been removed bij "officials ".

Safety reasons i suppose.

It's just an idea, it'd be neat to put the tent / car underneath and have a 'sun deck' above.

Mind you, we wouldn't want any freefall type incidents.

We have probably build the biggest scaffold ever seen at le mans back in 2005. it was roughly 27 ft long, 15 feet deep and about 12 feet high, nobody ever said a word!

I seem to remember people sleeping on it as well - Although I'm not sure that was planned, or intentional :)

I seem to remember sitting up on the mega scaffold until dawn on the saturday night drinking pints of Cointreau and orange flavoured coke. I also remember feeling a bit acidic on sunday!
