Title: Goodwood FOS in July
Post by: redstu on March 19, 2010, 09:43:55 pm
I've not been before but it always looks like a good weekend, as its not a day trip from the North East. Anyone know if there are any suitable campsites nearby where fellow petrolheads stay?

Stu,

Friends of mine used to camp onsite at one the Goodwood campsites.  It was about a five minute walk to the gate.  IIRC it wasn't cheap.

Jules,

I think Friday is the best day as there tend to be fewer people (although with The Times free tickets this has changed over the years).  Whichever day you go it will be busy so be there when the gates open.  There are far fewer people around and you can take a bit more time looking at the cars before it gets really busy.

Hope that helps guys.

Dx

If you can get down for Thursday then there's also the "moving British Car Show".

This replaces the usual Motor Show with a major difference that you can test drive what you fancy.

Details on the Goodwood website.

As for camping, try this link :: http://www.visitsussex.org/site/where-to-stay/camping-and-caravaning

The Anglesey Arms which is a short walk from Goodwood does a cheap camping for the weekend. I think it's about £10 per night. No showers but you could always use the Goodwood one's! They also do Leffe on tap ;D

We used Goodwood racecourse, not the cheapest but tidy, clean decent showers etc etc and a short walk to the top of the hill.

Cracking weekend tho!

Doris Thanks

I've just checked the FOS website , it is a bit steep, especially as we wouldnt be staying the 4 nights, probably only 2.

Campsite
(4 People, 4 Nights)
(Does NOT include entry to the event) Weekend Non-Electric £150.00    Extra Person £40.00

I like the sound of the Anglesey arms!

Stumbled across this set of photos over on pistonheads. Taken this week at the 2010 FOS press launch.
