 Is there any news on the 2010 club arnage t shirts

I see that Delboy hasn't posted since before Christmas so unless he pops up soon I doubt there'll be one.

I hope Del takes over this great task again, Le Mans without a CA-shirt wouldn't be the same...

I'm still around, but as I'm not going to Seebring, I've not had much to say on here!!  :P :P

Due to domestic circumstances (I may be moving to a house that wants a lot doing to it), I will not have the time to do the T-shirts this year, so if there is anyone out there who wants to take it on - please do so.

I might be able to help out, as clothes is what we make at my company.
But to do so i must se the previos designs so that i can have one of the designeres look in to something simulary.
I will find out a way to post a picture of last years t-shirt from my trip so you can see if this line of design would bee ok

Our usual offering is a white t short with some graphics. See this thread  for the 12008 design.

That's not to say we need the same again this year!!

If there is a possibility that they can be done, would someone like to get the ball rolling by sounding out interest?

I'd go more for a T-shirt in our traditional design (with a2010 upgrade) - it makes it easy to recognize a CA member already from some distance

But thats just my opinion of course

we usualy do both a t-shirt and sweatshirt every year with the same design, so t-shirt would be no problem. I will try to find at 2009 or 2008 design on this site.

Did you do the aston martin print? looks very nice.
Any advice on design is welcome as i havent seen the t-shirts from the last years.
I would like pic. of the t-shirts so i can see the designs if I should come up with an idea for the 2010 model.
If anyone on CA could do a layout then lets have a look at it.

Thanks Tom, but that wasn't the best example to use.  The 2008 ones were printed via heat transfer and were a bit of a disaster, although I'll use it as an example for pedars.....:

The 2009 ones (and all previous years) were printed vis screen print, and were much better.


The 2009 ones had the pic of the 1959 and 2009 Astons overlaid on a map of the cuircuit.

I too like the idea of a hoody as I have anough CA T shirts to last for every day that I'm there. A nice CA Hoody would keep us warmer at night too.

This gives me an idea about the designline.
The name and different flags might cause a bit of a problem, as the t-shirt would be printed at production. I will have to have a talk to the local printshop to see if they can do that.

as for the print on the back, anybody having an bright moment on this?

I will try and have at chat with the man in charge to see if he wants to be part in this. I will also ask him for a price. we don´t want to hav a comercial print any where or what? (problerly "Jack&Jones" or "Selected", both clothes brands, also sold in UK. pic. can be seen on my 2008 hoodie)

A few questions:
How many pieces was sold last year? At what price? When did you have to place your order? Will delivery in France on Thuesday be ok(or shipment = ekstra costs).

P.S. I can imagine that "personalized" Shirts with individula names and flags are a big effort and extra cost compared to a standard CA Shirt

Last year I offered the basic shirt, the 'trademark' front and the Astons/circuit map on the back at a cost of £12.  The name personalisation was an additional option at £2, and the Union flag on the sleeve another option at £1.

There was a complete mix of sizes ranging from kiddies sizes up to XXL.

I also offered V-neck shirts at additional cost.

Rusty of the Bretheren has for the past few years been the maestro who has taken the basic design and moulded into the image(s) that we have used and enjoyed so much.

The quality of the shirts themselves was, in my opinion, very good.

In total, I had 121 shirts printed, making a profit of over £400 for the club.

The time-consuming problems associated with the exercise is to get a basic design agreeable to all for the pic on the back which can then be knocked into shape (by Rusty??), and to administer the various options/orders/sizes etc and to collect the relevant amount of cash.  The actual process of getting them printed and shipped was relatively easy, helped a lot by the fact that a couple of years ago I developed a database system (using MS Access) to control all the orders, and I simply hit the relevant button and the system produced a printout which I gave to the printer. 

The vast majority of the shirts were shipped by mail, with only one major problem when a relatively large order got lost, and was finally delivered after the recipient had left for LM!!  The few shirts I took to LM with me for 'local' collection caused an uneccessary amount of problems, so I think that Pedars.... may have a serious problem in trying to distribute all the shirts at LM.

I will, of course, forward the artwork for the 'standard' front of the shirt to anyone who asks.

A bit late to the party on this thread, but there is also the option of CA using http://www.cafepress.co.uk/ for the T-Shirts (or whatever to be honest). The 'shops' are free to setup and can cope with one-off designs or many copies. The idea is to choose the 'merchandise' offered, upload the graphics and location, set a price (over the 'cost') and then let each person ordering do the work themselves. CA take the difference between the cost and sale price for the coffers and it requires no stock to be held.

A couple of friends have used this and I've found the quality to be very good at not unreasonable prices.

Just a thought - may take some of the administrative overhead away from the CA volunteers.

Been working on some DfH-material through cafepress, never really came through with it though. Could be interesting to get that going again.

I've just had a quick look at this - and it looks to me like it is the 'heat transfer' method of printing, which is not very durable (cf the 2008 CA shirts I did).  For the better 'screen print' process, there is ALWAYS a set up charge for each colour in each image.  Last years shirts, for example, had IIRC 3 colours on the front and 2 on the back, with a total set-up cost of £95 + VAT.  Further prices from last year were:

printing cost for 50 shirts    £5.30 per shirt
           "          100           £5.00

Although there is not a great deal of difference in printing costs between 50 and 100 shirts, spreading the setup costs between those numbers adds £2 or £1 per shirt.

Del,  I can't speak for either method, but the baseball top I brought from my friend's Cafepress in 2006 is still as good as new. Logo on front breast and across the whole shoulders of the garment - not stretched etc. I was pleased with it, but these things are not for everyone. The one I have does not look like it's a transfer, but I know NOTHING about t-shirt printing so that statement could be equally false too !!

???????  Did you??  I asked you for them, but never received them.  I didn't push it because of the changes going on your own circumstances, and I felt they were safe enough anyway.

As it stands, it looks like nobody is willing to pick up the tab for this year, and I can confirm that I will be unable to organise things as I have just (literally)  sold my house, and will be going ahead with the 'new' one, so will be very busy.

I'll be especially looking forward to LM this year, as I will be in need of a break by then.

I'll be back on the t-shirts again next year.

Other than the time, effort and hassel  :o, etc, I might try and get something going with the t-shirts.

If those that have done them before are willing to share the know-how (but don't have the time or energy to do it again this year) and if there is demand, then I might be persuaded.

I know feck all about design and graphics, so would need help with that. But finding a supplier (use last year's?), chasing people and being a general pain.......then I can try.

A hoodie, sweatshirt or polo shirt sounds good to me, although will get a T-shirt if someone organises it!

Just my wife says I don't look good in a T-shirt, personally I am not sure I look good in anything (or out of everything!), so T-Shirts seem to vanish in the house!

If no one has the time to organise it I would have thought the Cafepress idea is better than nothing.  Mind you in the current economic climate you'd have thought one might be able to find a printer willing to take on the hassle just to get some work!

I could get a batch of the CA Polos done again if there is interest.

In fact, as the embroiderer has the file digitised he could embroider it onto pretty much anything.

Shall I ask him what he could offer? I'd assume polos, hoodies, sweatshirts, fleeces should all be options!

Would be interested in a new polo, my old one keeps getting accidently tumble dried whenever other parties interfere in the washing >:(

As a matter of interest could you enquire about the cost of adding the date?  Its nice to have the year on the product!

On the subject of printed items I wonder about Foreign Legion Style caps for Le Mans.  I saw them on sale one year but not seen them since.  In my opinion they are ideal as they keep ones ears and back of your neck protected from the sun.  Anyone else for these?

I've used them in the past. Head and ear covering is pretty important when you've got as little hair as me.
However I've never seen one that doesn't make the wearer look daft (especially me). Therefpre please count me in for one.

I was thinking of the same myself - you could add a 1930s 8C (howe/birkin/sommer/chinetti/nuvolari etc) and perhaps a TZ or TZ2?

I don't think the 'traditional' CA t-shirt is happening for the 2010 event.

Others are in discussion about getting various other items of clothing done.

Haven't got anything specifically Alfaesque for the back (do havesome nice Alfa shots from the Classics though) but when I produced the Aston poster last summer, it was suggested maybe that could feature .. quite happy to send the artwork if still wanted .. FREE of course ;O)

Gaz I wouldn't worry - by the end of the first evening they're always covered in dust, red wine, beer, dinner etc etc - just wear a white t-shirt - nobody will be able to tell the difference ;)
