Title: ACO members enclosure
Post by: IanS on January 27, 2010, 11:31:14 pm
Can any one help me with where the ACO members enclosure is now located(map), after the 6 discount tickets are the other benefits worth the membership fee?

Cheers Ian

It used to be located in the old museum, but last year the ACO sited a number of prefab buildings on what was previously La Chapelle campsite. If you were to walk over the Dunlop Bridge to the infield, it's immediately on your left. Nice set up with some decent facilities, but a bit out of the way.

Private viewing area on the inside just below the Dunlop bridge, BUT no bogs or aircon.

And a bl**d*n' nightmare if you're in a wheelchair (not that I suppose you are!) - whilst - very steep - ramps were provided between the buidlings within the hospitality area, there were steps up to the wristband queue, which you have to join to gain access to the rest of it, as well as the facilities inside the ACO stand - even if you have tickets which I did.  Bonkers. >:(

And it ran out of beer late Saturday afternoon.  >:(

Really? Nature didn't call while I was there, but that's a major oversight.

Hopefully this was first year teething problems, but as things stand, the old facilities were much better.

Didn't collect my wristband until the Thursday, but had no trouble using the trib 18 facilities on the Wednesday, and at no point was I asked to show it (in trib 18) for the remainder of the week. Do the ACO have a vendetta against you?  ;)

Checked with the staff running it, just in case they were hidden away somewhere and I had missed them.
With a certain amount of embarrassment they admitted there were none there, and directed me to the nearest 'public' ones outside the enclosure.
Certainly a major ACO snafu, especially with a restaurant being part of the facilities.

THAT was the biggest problem for most of us.

Is it possible to swap tickets around during race or are you saying you need a wrist band as well as ticket for ACO stand?

ACO staff only check for the ACO wristband to access their areas.
You need a ticket to get to those places initially....

I am fairly sure that you only need a ticket to access stands 17 & 18, so you don't need a wrist band, however if you have a ticket for another grandstand you would need to get a wristband to access the ACO bar in grandstand 18, or the Welcome area, unless you have an ACO membership card.

I am in practice mode for LM 2010, so I am sure that I will read this post tomorrow, and remind myself not to post after a night out on the beer. ;D

Cheers, went for ACO membership twice in two names and just had invoice back confirming 12 discount tickets and 4 tickets for T18.  Will let you know how we get on, cannot really lose as discount covers ACO outlay and  I know which toilet I will be using Sunday morning.
