Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: Russ on September 24, 2003, 01:22:03 pm Chris... may I take this opportunity to quote your friend and mine, the great 'Smokie' when he posted at the top of this very forum a message which included the phrase...
'No links or references to sites which could be considered "advertising"' ... just pointing out the apparent double standards... ;D Perhaps I can make a posting along the lines of... "Hi guys. I have recently received a couple emails asking me if I work for a law firm. Well the answer is yes. I thought I'd take some time and tell you about our the proffessional services available to all..." So I guess the big question is... who moderates the moderators.... ::) (Great site, by the way... more fun that you can drive a car at..!) Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: ChrisConsidine on September 24, 2003, 07:08:03 pm Well Russ, the key here is: 'No links or references to sites which could be considered "advertising"' Unless I read the message wrong, there are no such links to or references to any sites. I haven't even sent links to our site to the people who have responded.
As far as your message, I don't see any problem with you posting as similar message. Just make sure it follows the rules. Hope this clears things up. Chris Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: ray on September 24, 2003, 10:07:03 pm Seems like an ad to me, Well if your the moderator maybe you speak a different language or can get away with more!!!!!!!!!! I DON"T LIKE IT..
Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: Robbo SPS on September 25, 2003, 01:25:54 am Chill out ray, whats wrong with Mr Moderator advertising very slightly his firm, he spends HIS time sorting bits of this site out ! .

Chris It's your forum... you do what ever the hell you like! :) I don't share the same view as Ray, and I do have an appreciation for the effort required to keep something like this running. Somebody is paying for the server space, the software, and the time taken to moderate. I know that person isn't me, and if the people who are running the show weren't doing a good job, nobody would be on the site reading this post! One thing though Chris... it's not cleared up my embarrassing rash... ;D Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: IanB on September 26, 2003, 04:55:15 pm Hi Chris,
Your post is no problem to the Liverpool boys, but the beers are on you in 2004! Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: BigH on September 26, 2003, 05:01:10 pm Of course, no problems here either.
Would it be ok if I used this forum to sell immediate members of my family? H Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: gibberish on September 26, 2003, 05:11:13 pm [quote author=Russ link=board=4;threadid=1016;start=0#msg8493

Shame about the rash :o Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: wishy on September 26, 2003, 08:27:01 pm I think this site is great......however I do not have a web site currently, because I work on a principal called"word of mouth".......but I might be interested in a global site offering my services(joking).....UK only.!!!!!!
I will give discount rates for anybody who is in the Hampshire/Surrey areas for domestic appliance sales/repair etc. ;D :) Wishy Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: smokie on September 27, 2003, 12:55:52 am Not Berkshire then? My hob is playing up...
Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: wishy on September 27, 2003, 11:32:11 pm Hi Smokie
Depends on which part of Berkshire you are in. Tell me what are the symptoms so I can diagnose . If you are reasonably practical then I could send the parts to you at trade and you can fit them Wishy Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: jpchenet on September 29, 2003, 06:21:02 pm And you're only just over the border Smokie!!
Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: smokie on September 29, 2003, 07:48:21 pm Oddlt enough it seems to have cured itself...at least temporarily
It's a Diplomat (yes, cheap MFI) built-in gas hob. Two weeks ago it was clicking the igniters all on it's own, about once a minute. But only two (left front and right rear) were actually making a spark. Bloody irritating noise. After a day or so it stopped clicking on it's own. But still only two were sparking. So I gave it a good wash, removed all the baked in foodstuffs, no difference. Then, magically, after a few more days it's all OK again... Any idea? Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: Steve Pyro on September 29, 2003, 07:50:56 pm Haven't we just had a full moon ?
Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: wishy on September 29, 2003, 09:07:55 pm Well Smokie.
The most likely cause of the ignition system working on its own is................. if a pan has boiled over, the liquid flows down into the internals and earths out the ignition system....when it finally dries out it should be ok. Wishy Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: Robbo SPS on September 29, 2003, 09:09:47 pm Bodgit and Scarper say : Hit the bloody thing with a lump hammer , if it dont work after that , get a new one ;D
Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: wishy on September 29, 2003, 10:09:11 pm I dunno about Bodgit & Scarper Robbo.........but you are right .....in most cases a large Birmingham screwdriver will suffice for any job.
But if all fails.....sell the customer a quality replacement ;D Wishy Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: Steve Pyro on September 29, 2003, 11:24:30 pm a large Birmingham screwdriver will suffice for any job. I've always known this tool as a Manchester Micrometer - does it have the same effect ?Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: wishy on September 29, 2003, 11:31:08 pm It's only the Manchester variety......if used in small doses........not the dose that you might think!!!!!
wishy Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: smokie on September 30, 2003, 12:30:35 am Wishy - thanks - so no magic then? Awww...
I'll see how it goes... Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: Stu on October 01, 2003, 10:41:39 am Wishy, you could have charged him trade price ( or should that be Face Value) for that nugget of information and just told him his spark regulator had gone. Obviously didn't go to the same appliance repair schools as the robbing bar stewards around here. We could start a little repair thread and pool everyones knowledge and fix everyones little problems. (I really should go and plumb in the dish washer thats been standing in the kitchen for 3 years now).
Stu Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: wishy on October 01, 2003, 06:59:43 pm Well Stu ......Helping Smokie is what I would call customer service.....which in this day and age seems to be vanishing at an alarming rate!.
At the end of the day Smokie is a fair distance away......and......some time in the not too distant(June 2004)future,I hope to meet you guys without any repercussions regarding my "technical skills".and of couse a beer or three ;D I will give anybody advice, because as they say "information is free, labour costs". Wishy Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: Stu on October 01, 2003, 07:10:16 pm ......and......some time in the not too distant(June 2004)future,I hope to meet you guys without any repercussions regarding my "technical skills".and of couse a beer or three ;D Wishy Can't wait. Wishy How do you make an old Renault Espace go fast around a test track then? ;) Seriously - Wishy gives sound advice on the white goods front as I have experienced several times and expects nothing in return - well no more than to share a beer or three. So - the washing machine clinic will be held outside the Champagne Bar at 9:15pm on Saturday 12th June 2004. Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: wishy on October 02, 2003, 08:22:39 am The answer to your question Pretzel .......is by fitting my newly skimmed cylinder head......and going for it in style.#
Wishy Title: Re:Internet Technology Services Post by: Steve Pyro on October 02, 2003, 10:33:04 am We could start a little repair thread and pool everyones knowledge and fix everyones little problems. Damn good idea. I'm a firm believer in the 'Time Bank' / 'You scratch my back etc' school of thought.
